Good luck finding a consumer grade motherboard to put that memory in. 🙂

It still take a long until we need that amount of memory in our desktop PCs.

Yep and don't forget that we had video cards with 16MB -64MB of VRAM, what 15 years ago. It's crazy to think people are running cards with 12GB now 🤓. Hell my first PC i think had about 8 or 16MB system RAM too.

So I can stick 8 of them on a x99 and get 1TB RAM  Can the i7 6960x handle that much ram?

I'm pretty confident that the future is nothing like that. All entertainment will by consumed by streaming. No need to super powerful processors and SLI GPU setups, just a small box that will stream everything. One thing is a fact, the industry is all for it as it would make piracy a lot more complicated.

That will be the day i stop being gamer as i wont actual own the games/movies then, I would renting them. 128gb of ram in 1 stick is amazing, then again no commercial board will support that any time soon

Depends on what we are consuming. VR games? Doubtful with the latency that would introduce. Mobile devices would also not work very well with a streaming service for gaming. I guess they could of course drop latency dramatically in the future but if VR becomes prominent it will need every millisecond it can get.
