Side note, I remember people liking samsung back in the s2/s3 days and hating Apple, because the iphone was 2x the price of the samsung, well that is no longer an appropriate reason it seems.

I was thinking about the S8, but then discovered it would have pretty much the same camera as the S7, few software enhancements, but same 12mp etc, and that's one of the main features I upgrade for, so will be sticking with my S7 for now

Sticking with NOTE4. No phone is worth that money. After Samsungs Note 7 ****up you would have thought they'd give something back but instead they want us to pay for their mistakes. But as we know the fanboys will keep them alive.

My main reason for not buying is price and fingerprint sensor on back next to camera lens.
Not usable in cover and would make lens dirty all the time.
I will wait it out this time and keep my S7 edge duos.

Haven't seen a reason to move away from my Note 3 yet. I put a 128GB card in it and bought a couple of extra batteries. It does everything I need and fast.
Not having a physical button weirds me out. There's something very satisfying about hitting that button when I'm done looking at an app...

So the S8, which has a screen larger than the size of the S7 Edge, will cost as much the S7 Edge, and the S8+, which will have a screen larger than the Note 7, costs as much as the Note 7?

There's basically zero reason to move to a new phone unless you've got something ancient. I fail to understand how the phone market continues to sustain itself. How a bunch of features with mediocre performance is a selling point is equally baffling.

I moved from Galaxy S1 (something in the middle) to xiaomi for 160 bucks - it does everything i want it to and Samsung actually cant beat it, they have nothing as a better deal and the whole bloody year has passed and still nothing. If they suck at low end they must be not at all best at hi-end.

€900 for a first generation SD 830 phone, LOL! These phones used to be "free" on expensive 3 year contracts since that would more than pay for one (no, we don't get services that justify the prices, the high prices were purely to pay for the phones and most of all for retarded giant profit margins). Then when the prices went up and 3 year contracts were deemed illegal (legal limit set to 2 years) they started offering them on expensive contracts +$300, then +$400, then +$500 for the top models.
Samdung, Apple, etc, can all go eat a bag of fat dongers. You can get the same parts and reasonable software support from a company like OnePlus for half (now less) the price. Plus they include chargers which DON'T murder your battery by doing the voltage conversion in the damn phone itself.
Buy from shady Chinese brands, or an almost shady Chinese brand like OnePlus, vote with your wallet, stop letting these companies charge these prices.

I suspect people are keeping their phones much longer now like a trusty old car. It's paid for and still does the job. They keep ramping the premium pricing upwards but there isn't really any earth-shattering new feature compelling us to dump another $800-$1000 on a device we already have.
