Performance vs battery life. Apparently S6 with 1440p screen will perform in games similarly but beefier GPU will eat more power. And IQ will likely stay same for most of use as mobile games are not made with shaders capable to deliver better IQ on high resolutions. Even on 1440p benefit of high resolution mostly comes from no need for AA, but low resolution texture will look same as on 720p/540p. On GearVR it may prove to be good (movies), but will that performance be enough for rendering of 2 viewports in games?

Samsung really need to fix the standby power it drains so much, my s6 is horrible.....we really need 8k screen for 5" phone now i know why android lost market share to apple....

I'd do some quotes for this post but if have to quote almost everyone in this thread.... First off, S6 battery life is great. Exynos 7420 phones in general (Note 5 here) have amazing battery life. If youre experiencing bad battery life, you have apps installed that drain your battery. Period. First off, using the Facebook app or any social media App instead of using your browser is a n00b move. Of course those apps drain battery. They're a joke. Second, Touchwiz does suck yes.... However you can disable the apps and services that you never use with "Package Disabler Pro" (no root required) and get great battery life and smooth UI navigation. Plus this phone has FDE enabled (Full Disk Encryption), anyone who knows Android well will know phones aren't smooth and fast with FDE enabled. UFS 2.0 FTW. My Note 5's best is 9.5hrs SOT with 26 hours battery life. Smooth the whole time too. Without using the hell out of the phone I regularly get 2 and a half days out of my Note 5. My battery is going to last a hell of a lot longer than any of yours (Exynos 7420 owners that is) because of this. Apple doesn't have even close to the market share Android does. Not even close. It's VERY laughable to even suggest such a thing. All you have to do is spend some time on XDA. Or you can jump ship like those 2 guys here did. You're admitting defeat if you do that though. I'll admit I was close when I got this Note 5. The battery life was HORRIBLE stock. However so is the memory management of Touchwizzed Android. It's pathetic. Watch the IPhone 6s Plus vs Note 5 loading video. A Nexus device with stock Android wouldn't do this. So I will say that. If you aren't good with Android you really don't have many options.

It's funny because Samsung's phones would actually be this way too if they didn't have ****ty touchwiz on them. I mean they can get decent battery life and their processor isn't half bad either. But TouchWiz janks everything up and despite all it's performance it drops frames constantly. Plus their over aggressive memory culling is stupid. The fact that a 2 year old Nexus 5 has better multitasking than a Galaxy S6 is sad.

This. Been running Cyanogenmod for almost a year on my S5, ran stock touchwiz for maybe 3-4 months. The speed difference is absurd and I get 1-1.5 days of battery with the internet on with medium usage. I miss some features, I'll admit. But since CM12.1 implemented air wakeup (wave to wake up screen) and air view (hovering finger above screen shows details in certain apps) I'm not missing almost anything anymore. The only missing thing is smart stay. Touchwiz, never again.

Smart phones are ANYTHING but PHONES the actual PHONE function is 2nd/3rd consideration. 1st consideration is is how much can it be like laptop/tablet PC. A actual phone has no need for duo core let alone quad/hex/ etc only computers and things trying to be computer need that. but like i said lucrative business everyone has one and everyone upgrades to newer one ever year and there for everyone is track as a result considering they all have gps in them now, and even when they didnt have gps in them they were be tracked and monitor. I still dont have smart phone and probably be while before even bother to get one, my cell is gona have die before i switch to one. My phone last weeks talking 2~3 weeks if i switch off bluetooth it last about week and half. mean while everyone else phone has to be charged ever 12-24 hours. tech in the phones changed the batteries did not. and 90% people arnt gona mod the phones, cause 90% those people should have smartphones in first place cause they dont know how to use them. only the tech savvy people will do this. and while the battery life will be better it is still teribble. hell my mom has smart phone and dont use it dont answer the phone, and barely understand how to text, yet she has one.

Damn right, i have the note 5 as well and it the best phone u can come into, with arter97 kernel, all my games especially Tekken 6 work perfect.

people keep saying it will have worst battery life because of the higher res but I keep seeing the same results, but even then, we could actually be improving battery exponentially by stopping this madness and just focusing on efficiency, instead of balancing an ever growing resolution vs more efficient tech each generation but I wonder, really, when will they hit a wall? I mean after 4k what else? 5k? then what? 5k is the most you can get on a single consumer grade pc monitor, I'd rather see them improving those tiny speakers, do something magic to get some bass out of them somehow lol that'd be a worthwhile advancement

1440= 2560*1440. 4k= 4096*2160. x1.5+-, take in account playing games on PC in 4k, u need very expensive gear, and even that is not satisfactory.

Note 4 here and just couldn't be happier. Really love this thing. Buying only Note's since 2011(jumped fro N1 to N3 tho). But probably this will be my last Note phone(maybe) after all the changes. Also the battery is great and no hate for Apple here. The iP6 and iP6S are absolutely amazing phones. Worthy of the competition(iPhone 6S only imo) and possibly even better in some cases. :thumbup:

Well, this is my first note, i dont have much usage for the S-Pen, but when i do it helps very much. For me to replace Note 5 with newer phone, would mainly require it to have larger battery, and sd card option, UFS2.0+emmc 5.1. As all other is good with the phone.

Going beyond 720p on a 5" screen was pretty much pointless. 1080p is barely a noticeable improvement from there. 4K on a 5" or 7" screen though? :3eyes: How utterly useless.

Why is it useless? It's already been stated here that it's mainly for VR. But even just for general usage, they aren't even close to the limit that a human eye can detect a misalignment (two arc second resolution). In fact if you were viewing the phone at 12" away from your face, you'd need a 6418×3610 resolution screen to completely remove aliasing. Not to mention Pentile Matrix sub resolution is lower than the total resolution. So most images aren't even coming close to 4K on AMOLED anyway. People keep saying it's useless but they don't seem to have an argument for it.
