it's (5800X3D) still current for AM4 upgrade. all other cpus in Ryzen 3 are EOL imho they're keeping the 7800X3D in the vest pocket for ideal Intel smacking time. in other words for PR.
yeah 7800x3d is probably their secret weapon if raptor lake ends up being competitive but i would not wait and release it asap. Also, wasnt there a rumor more skus will have v-cache with zen4?

Doesnt 5600 pbo run the same as 5600x Pbo

Every gen I've made the correct prediction and bought the parts considered superior at each time I upgrade. I'm planning to do the same later this year and have a good hunch it will be a Nvidia / Intel system once again (though I've owned amd parts recently too so please don't come at me with "fanboy". It just so happens Intel had the best for the first half of the decade I've been building top end pc's and during the last half its gone back and forth but each time I needed an upgrade Intel was the one to get. As far as gpu u haven't had a top tier radeon since the 7970 but that's because until just the gen they didn't even come close and even with current cards there's just too much Nvidia offers that radeon couldn't. Being someone aiming for 4k/120hz gaming I got a feeling that won't change this time either.
Intel will probably need a ton more of electricity (and noise) to overpass AMD, so if that's not going to be a problem for you, then I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

precisely... and not a rumor at this point for the TR variant of MilanX it all depends (imho) on what AMD wants to do re: market segmentation. we all know they can do many things, some that we may want. imho it centers on their ability to have both 3D cache and better heat conductivity. so it may just be the cut-down models with 3d Cache just like now if there are no improvements in thermal conductivity.

No 7800X. They must be holding the better silicon for servers.

You'll have to wait still as v-cache models wont be released this year.
AMD already confirmed 3d cache for 2022 but at the end of the year unless I misread it, it was announced in the Financial analyst Day, Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the best gaming processor in the market bar none. We are proud of what V-Cache technology is doing for us and we are gonna feature this in Ryzen 7000 series later this year and in the future generation. Would be nice if AMD released the 6000 mobile APU series for desktop AM4 boards. Give AM4 a little more life and love. A 6800X with RDNA2 iGPU with a 65-95W TDP would be awesome for sffpc market! 😀

exactly. plus add my comment earlier. the forest outside the trees is the delayed RL launch and Intel marketing's very facile cherry-picking. this is not an insult, it's a fact. and in all honesty both Intel and AMD have each other's ES (not equal to the "current" or newest of each since Intel always has far more ES points). this allows the impressive but vague and nebulous statements each puts out at launch re: competitive advantages. AMD is not some innocent kid wandering. they have been around the block as long as anyone other than Intel (who constructed the block)

Dude! 😉 even better if they chose a trusted AIB (Sapphire, Powercolor, Asrock, Asus) to out NUC the NUC

Hmmm I beg to forgive my noobness, but what does the X behind the number stand for, and why do all of the four have one?
The x normally is clocked on stock and boost about 200mhz higher ... Often with more consumption reported . Almost with out fail you can clock a non x to the x frequency ... If you got extremely unlucky you might need to push a bit more voltage (very unlikely) . Also the x variation is supposedly a better bin , but again while for the biggest part the x will be better bin , it is not unusual for non x chips to be a lot better than a silver sample from the x bins. And it terms of oc you might fall short 100-200 MHz from an x bin .... When you are already hovering over 4.5 GHz ....who cares ? Also the 5700x seem to be better bins than a lot of the older 5800x courtesy of being _b2 stepping (newer) instead of b0

People who buy the non X version are the same people who buy a base model BMW 420D and glue an M badge on the boot.

I would still prefer 6800x and 6800g to be separate thing. One with more cache and one with igpu.

it depends on whether rembrandt's memory controller actually supports ddr4 or not , if it doesn't there isn't anyway to do so. so far amd has said that it only supports ddr5. I think its more likely that we will see more cost reduced zen3 skus on am4 since there is still amd's option to do a move to 6nm which is a node optimization of 7nm (same core design , just on an improved process) or possibly a zen3+ update which wasn't used for desktop, a cut down zen4 chiplet variant is possible aswell, since they can presumably use the old io die , but I wouldn't count on it. we'll see how long amd keeps am4 around, I'm thinking maybe a year max after zen4 launches, depends on how expensive the ddr5/ddr5motherboards are going to be and process node cost, if it stays high, then it could be around for a while longer.

They can start by releasing them for mobile! :P Been looking for a 6800U-based 13" to replace our current notebook and you can't get them for love nor money.
