More bad news. 2022 just like 2021.
It will be worse.

lol maybe the one where they don't even have anything in the sub 250eur segment no answer for i3, none for 12400 5600x and 5800x are beaten in performance, price, core count and pcie version by 12600 and 12700 and as a response they're releasing 5800X3D that's gonna be hard to get. what situation πŸ™„
That's the situation they want to be in , in current production capacity it's the best scenario they can have to make most money . It is simple and cold calculation. They are using platform advantage that gives them opportunity to sell overpriced CPUs . Overpriced is also subjective πŸ™‚

AMD is completely at TSMC's mercy, whereas Intel with its own fabrication plants is free to do whatever it wants to do. TSMC is 140% booked, so they aren't going to lower their own prices, especially when Apple is always willing to pay more (because no price is too high for Apple's customers).

Might consider getting one of these over my now old 3900X... at least until DDR5 becomes better and more affordable and I can move on to another platform. It all boils down to what performance boost it gives in gaming, but since I'm on 3440x1440p, I won't hold my breath.

Will there be lower model 3D based chips? or only the 5800X3D?

How exactly are they overcharging for CPUs?
5600x on 300 msrp where it holes pretty close to this msrp meanwhile the 3600 and 3600x where 200 and 250 respectively and the complete lack of a 5700x releasing the 5800x at 500 msrp witch thankfully normally can be found between 320~350 last 6 months or so .... if that is not overcharging what is ?

Great, more vaporware!

This is a total Intel move. Make something you can't realistically produce, just to not suck in benchmarks that people who can't get your product will see. It reminds me of that 28-core Intel crap when TR/Epyc was first out, the one that required Chernobyl cooling to boot. At least it doesn't seem so desperate yet and Alder Lake sure likes its coolers well done.

these may have been launch msrp's but these regularly go on sale for much less i got the 5600g for 285$cad before tax and shipping (332$cad all in) which in the end all in only ended up costing 265$ usd that's still an amazing price for this performmance

Bummer. I was kind of looking forward to this one as my AM4 swan song to replace my 3700x. Could grab a normal 5800x, but was holding out to see if this one was going to be worth waiting for and what the price would be.

The 5600g has lower msrp than the 5600x here in Greece the lower the 5600x ever got is 280 euros , and with the 5800x at 330 the 5600x is just a bad offer there is no reason to not pay 50 euros extra and get the 5800 instead .

Looks like this is going to be the new norm with AMD and new stuff. So by the time any of us can buy one it’ll be out of production πŸ™

I figure the availability of these cpus is going to greatly depend on how well milan-x is expected to sell.

Asking more money for a CPU that's slower, lower core count and older pcie version. Instead of less, you know.
Hmm but if I recall you said the exact same thing before 12th Gen and AMD was on top with all the Benchmarks, its pretty obvious that no matter what happens you wont be happy unless you can buy a CPU at what YOU consider a good deal, yet before Zen "enthusiasts" like yourself were willing to hand over more for a 4 core CPU from Intel, if Zen had not come along you still would be in all probability. AMD needs to recoup its costs and develop for the future as do all Tech businesses yet you believe that each generational improvement in hardware should cost no more than the last and give you more performance for your Money? Am afraid you living in your own fantasy. This CPU from AMD is great but only for certain people plus its a very clever business decision, they take a decent priced and performing CPU, they add the latest and greatest development which mirrors the AM5 and allow the last gen owners who cannot afford a full board and DDR5 upgrade to keep performing at a very high level for a few years, cementing the brand loyalty whilst fanning the flames of desire to get the AM5 because its going to be another Zen moment for AMD just remember what you saw already 3d stacked CPU running at 5ghz+ on all cores on a 5nm platform

Overpriced is also subjective πŸ™‚
I agree it depends if you care for objective facts, like performance per dollar. Not everyone does, sometimes people prefer to pay extra just for the brand and that's fine.

don't get that it's a crippled chip, half the cache and pcie 3.0 i'd rather just invest extra euros into something better get a 5800x and don't look back

look folks there's no need for hand-wringing. the 5800X3D is doing the exact same thing for AMD that Alder Lake is doing for Intel. which is being a placeholder while generating sales for the next generation cpu arriving within 12 calendar months. Intel wisely decided to "go big" in ironing out "Big/little". there's no substitute for full production to create an improved process. Intel also is facing limitations in fabrication, but the team spirit is back. AMD is faring better with TSMC than some of you seem to think. the reality is no one and nothing else are being fabbed at this fab for the 5800X3D and as i said there's no substitute for full production to enhance the node. AMD knows you get what you paid for, which is the bleeding edge of fabrication. with all of the associated risks as well. this is a "win" for everyone

one-off cpu vs whole line-up,including K and F skus,and they're the same ?

essentially. you are forgetting the part where i said "Intel wisely decided to "go big".

the greatest power Intel has is market share and marketing. this year they had the new tech to show off. even thought it is nascent and a placeholder. the reality is that the new administration needed a new full line in the stores and marketing needed the shareholders to see progress on the production node. period. point made to the shareholders (like me) that were beginning (or had) to lose/lost faith. all Intel really had to do was the I-9 1200k. but doing a full run down to I-3 proves they had (more or less) caught up with TSMC across multiple fab sites. AMD does not have that legacy - it made bank off of that legacy, as did TSMC what we are talking about with the 5800X3D is way more advanced than Foveros/EMIB that Intel is using. which is why it is only being made at one fab site. this isn't bad news, it means the technology will become less expensive and more common across multiple sites (eventually).

one cpu is not a dozen cpus

and a whole lineup of cpus that beat the competition in performance and price atm
