While we are on about AMD prices, which is sort of on topic, LDLC.com in France/Europe have the 2700X Wraith Prism (8c/16t) at 279€95 until the 26th June included. Reduced from 349€94. (Must be recent, I checked Saturday, and the discount wasn't there then). Thats just 10€ more than the 2700 non-X. Clearing out some room for new stock ? 😉 https://www.ldlc.com/fiche/PB00247997.html

So it's the same pricing as Intel, only a newer generation (presuming, anything new from Intel will cost the same). Also, the 3000 series is pricier in the Eurozone (funnily enough, the 2000 series is much closer to the dollar value, often cheaper). Great...

I wouldn't pass judgment from Danish, Polish and Portuguese prices we know up to now.

Regular (Wraith Spire) new 2700 costs 226 Euro here. Including 21% tax. 2700X comes at 297 Euro, including same 21% tax. - - - - 550 Euro is OK for me on 3900X as long as it includes tax 🙂

Sure, my final judgement will come when these things are up for sale in my country for my prices (we don't use Euros), but still...

So these are even more expensive than initially expected, okay...

What are you talking about? Is it 1st time for you seeing MSRP for US and EU prices? Can't you find out why it is so? AMD's MSRP to final price is driven by exactly same mechanism as intel's and nVidia's. To put you into perspective: both 3900X and 9900K have MSRP of $500 which translates to 550 Euro. At which you can have mentioned 9900K. And same is to be expected from 3900X.

I'm talking about the argument some of us had on another thread, where i was saying i'd prefer a 9900k to this if it cost 399€ since i could find the 9900k for 472€, just 73€ more than that hypothetical 3800X price (399€).

Then you shouldn't be talking as if you do. Basing your opinion about them being the "same pricing as intel" on a currency you don't use in a country with their tax you don't have is complete nonsense.

New or used and which country specifically/what website? please show your work.

You meant: "Just 18% more + platform cost."

It's not like anyone should be anymore surprised about the effect of the VAT to the final price in Europe. When looking at the dollar price, you may also need to add the sales tax to it, although it's very low indeed for all the Americans, compared to the typical European VAT levels. Although how bad it's in Europe depends on the country.

Platform cost? As i already said, x570 will probably cost around that of z390, and no, nobody would buy a x470 with a brand new ryzen 3000, for many reasons.

My Asrock X470 Taichi should be here on Tuesday. Since the Asus X370-F is still under warranty, I am just going to send it back to Asus for repair or replacement. I will just end up selling the board that they send back.
Are you going to buy Zen2 chip? If not, do not upgrade to compatible BIOS. Stay at latest one before Zen 2. As It altered PBO voltage which is bit higher and therefore boosts worse for Zen+.
I will eventually upgrade my CPU. Being in Canada though, our prices suck. I am just going to wait to get a better price. I refuse to pay 800 Canadian after taxes for an R9 3900X.
I think that yesterday's conversation proven you as wrong as you can be. (Since nobody ends with 1st somebody.)

Based on a post of one person, besides, he already has an older ryzen CPU to update the bios in order to make that 3900X work, and he explicitly said he's getting a x470 because his x370-f is in for rma, so it's not like he can do otherwise at the moment since x570 aren't available yet. I wasn't wrong then, and i'm not wrong now.

There are always options. Saying that he had no other choice is wrong. And as I wrote, one person is enough to prove "Nobody" statement as false.

You do know that 438.90 € is less then 472€, right? Either way, that website has a good price on the 9900k, which is great, but their good price has nothing to do with Intels 9900k MSRP + VAT vs AMDs 3800x MSRP + VAT Intels 9900k MSRP + Vat in Italy should be 438.49€ + 22% italy VAT = 534.95€, the fact that you're not being charged that and a retailer is discounting the 9900k doesn't discount that, and it's not a fault to AMD, and it's not a bonus to Intel, it's a bonus to that retailer for discounting a product.

Ultimately this was your fault for this idea in the first place though, just an FYI. $399 MSRP in euros plus italy 22% VAT is 427.75€, which isn't too far off the 438.90€ it's being listed on in a website that's not for italy. Italy is 22%, Portugal is 23%, and if the math was 100% accurate all the time that'd put portugals price at 431.26€, again, not far off from 438.90€ that is listed here. It's no ones fault but your own for not doing the math.

Never seen this much mirror climbing. 34€ is less than 73€, so it's even more worth it in my eyes, considering it's going to perform better than the 3800X (but yes we still can't be 100% sure). That shop isn't discounting anything, it's been with that price for weeks, if not months, and besides there are a few other shops with the same price or 5/6€ more than that.https://i.imgur.com/9kaygnx.png

Again, your fault for having this idea that it was going to be 399€ + no vat, you live in italy, yet you thought this, which makes absolutely no sense to me. You realize 399€ would have been quite expensive compared to $399 right? Really don't understand how you don't get currency exchanges as well as adding in your own VAT Heck, 472€ is expensive in my view for a 9900k, since that's $537.13 which is ABOVE MSRP. Now, it includes vat, which is fine, again, but your whole idea that somehow it'd be a 1 to 1 currency exchange(which would be horrible for you) PLUS not include vat.........this is a you problem. All i want from you is for you to answer this question: Why did you think it'd be a 1 to 1 currency exchange with no VAT, and how did you come to this idea, and why did you not think of the actual currency exchange, and then add in your VAT?
oxidized:

Also, yes, it is. Your statement would be as good as me saying the $484.99 9900k i can find isn't discounted because i can find it at multiple websites, even though it's below the MSRP of $499.99. That's not how that works. It's still discounted even if all the websites are getting a discount. It's called a company-wide discount through trusted retailers.

Why are you even repeating that nonsense with "he already has a CPU to use to update his bios". I can order MB and in note place that I would like to have BIOS updated before shipping to version XXX. And if X470 was not sufficient he had multiple other options too. 1st) use any other system he likely has. I have more computers too. 2nd) buy super cheap MB and use that before MB on RMA get's back. Much smaller loss. But instead he went for one of the best X470 boards out there. That's calculated action of someone who knows what he wants.
