After experiencing GeForce NOW I don't see consoles having a bright future. Maybe a couple more iterations before they lose their place and have to come up with a new philosophy.

Well I wouldn't count on no PS5 coming around. Maybe he just said it to get PS4 owners to upgrade to the PS4neo sometime in the near future, because that would mean Sony would have even greater profits once they announce the PS5 in a few years.

sounds like a hint at the Horrendous prospect of game streaming,where you never actually own a game you just pay for a pass to play it , on forums lot people defend drm and the modern way is you pay for a pass to play the game but you never actually own the game and this is a great idea in there eyes , i think its bad idea and at least for now we still have the saviour which is gog where you do buy the game and its yours to keep and play without an internet connection , if gog has the game thats my first choice for purchase its drm free , back them up on hard drive then you can enjoy games without internet connection

I agree, this is what I thought when I read the article too: that lack of a PS5 may mean that they will move to 'cloud gaming' where all the processing is done in the cloud, at which point they may rename the gaming device.

There would be virtually no difference between a superfast PS4 and a PS5. They'd carry over the OS and API anyway, because there's no way game engine development would have to start from scratch.

PS5 will probably use a beafy HBM2 Vega GPU so difference will be huge.
So what, somewhere in 2020 we can expect new console, again.

What they are saying is, no PS 5 but that could just mean they will just go back to Playstation.
There will be 3 or 4 models to choose from, a low end one, a mid range one and of course a high end one.
So basically a Dell with options.

Is it me or are consoles evolving more and more into a computer?
I mean they always had similarities hardware wise but the differences are getting smaller and smaller with each new iteration.

I get the feeling they want to stay with PS4 and just do upgrades to it ever 2 or so years, and keep everything on same platform.
That would be nightmare for dev they would have to start programing multiple configurations which will start pilling up.
unless sony want to to let people trade in there system for the upgraded one, or get the upgraded 1 for free if it still under warrenty. special for people that just bought there system. this in self is enough to put me off.
Im thinking I will stop get consoles. IM not intrested in play the "Will this work" game on console, I got consoles cause it the SAME experience for EVERYONE cause they all have the same hw there fore got the same graphics etc, which done away if dev have to make it work for multiple specs.
sound like computer to me, which just bad an idea as there upgraded ps4 and make devs program for 2 different specs

PS5 will be here soon after we make something revolutionary, like working and feasible graphene transistors.
Because if we get transistors to suddenly tick at even 40GHz, such huge game changing performance step would leave PS whatever at time in the dust.
That will not happen til 2020. And this PS4.5 is getting 14nm treatment. Let's see how much better and when 10nm arrives. Because it looks like 10nm is actually very small performance step from 14/16nm.
