Do we really need 16GB video cards? All reviews that I have seen so far would suggest 8GB is more than enough?

One please!
I'll give you 599 euros, for 15% faster than 1080Ti
If only 8 GB, it will be hard to persuade anyone with 1080Ti 11GB to upgrade

I hardly think that the upgrade path for a 1080Ti user is to a 1180 non-Ti... more like the 1180Ti, even if it comes later, I'll wait.

Finally, if true.
I will be able to switch to a second hand 1080ti sold by guys who just want the latest GPU.
Go Nvidia, go !

I'll wait for the 1180Ti. If nvidia taught me anything it's that it's no longer worthwhile to get their "vanilla" offerings.

My 980 ti still going strong on my PG279Q and it's thanks to gsync I don't need a constant 144fps or 165fps. I still hope this can maybe get me closer to 160fps (I limit it to there to stay in gsync range for less input)

What worries me is that Nvidia has no competition this time around for Gpu release. Remember when Intel was the only kid on the block? Intel became the big bully and kept taking everyones lunch money and hardly gave anything back for your money. I hope Nvidia puts all their work in on this next release. I can wait longer for a good product.

Although some think Nvidia will delay new cards to continue milking Pascal, I actually see them as more likely to bring out something new just to take advantage of AMDs weakness. New cards out soon could really screw AMD and make them almost irrelevant on the gaming scene. Especially if they can bring out something that is well priced. That imo is a more tempting prospect for Nvidia than milking Pascal till next year. I could just see Huangs evil grin on the thought of this.

I will definitely be holding off for the inevitable GTX 1180 Ti as I made the mistake of buying the GTX 1080 and only a few months later upgrading again to the GTX 1180 Ti. The Ti cards are much better value IMO, though still pricey (as NVIDIA products always are). I game at 2560x1440 on a 165 Hz display and just about everything I play runs at 60+ fps on maxed out settings so there really is no incentive for me to upgrade anyway.
I will not be buying a 4K display for a few years at least and I still use a 1080p TV simply because the amount of true 4K content is miniscule (consoles cannot manage 4K as standard instead resorting to checkboarding and upscaling for most games and TV content is still mostly 1080p) that when I do buy one it will likely be because my current TV broke rather than any need to view 4K content.
As far as graphics cards go though, 2560x1440 is the sweet spot allow me to max out the graphics in cards and still have a great framerate. The GTX 1180 Ti will be a great card, I'm sure just as the GTX 980 Ti was and the GTX 1080 Ti still is.

About time something happens at the GPUs side. I will patiently wait for the vanilla 1180Ti put a full cover water block ,OC to the max stable clocks and call it a day 😀 , then wait until next Ti release wash & rinse , repeat add infinitumm !

I'll gladly pay 70€ less (or whatever 8gb is worth) for a 8gb model rather than the 16gb one.
I'll even pay 30€ less for a 12gb.
16gb sounds overkill right now.

I'll probably wait for the 1170, going by recent history it should be on par if not a touch faster than the 1080ti for reasonable money.

Ehhhh....With the lack of a competing brand right now though I really wonder what the performance difference will be...

If they are launching on 7nm they're going to want to keep the die size small due to yield constraints. It's going to be GX104 card ~300-350mm2ish with probably 15-20% performance over a stock 1080Ti @ $550-600ish.

Well time to upgrade then for my 770GTX 4gb.
That is a big jump, 1180 or 1180ti is time.
