It's good to see RDNA2 finally being used in APUs. But I wonder what they are going to do about memory bandwidth. If they manage to ad 32MB of Infinity cache, it might just give it a huge boost.

So the APUs are labeled Zen 3+... so is that an actual normal update to the architecture rather than just slapping on some more cache like Zen 3D? If so why would they do that only for the APU parts? Either way it's looking like the Zen 3D chips are the last lineup that will include a high-end chip for AM4. So I guess I'm stuck going for that, which should be fine considering it should be more than good enough to ensure the CPU is not a bottleneck at 140 fps for a while.

Same thing it always has. AMD chips are in pretty good supply the last couple months.

The 6K series is coming and it's still difficult to find a 5900X in stock. I'm going to go ahead say we have different definitions of "pretty good".

Unlike Intel (who use a single monolithic die and laser off sections of cache and cores to create SKUs) Ryzen CPU cache size is tied directly to the number of CCDs on the CPU. This was why gaming performance of the Ryzen 5000 chips showed a smaller delta in performance from the 5600 to the 5900 than the Core i5 10xxx to i9 10xxx chips did - game performance is much more cache dependent than it is core dependent. Since their APUs (at least thus far) have had the GPU take the place of one of the CCDs, all of the APU SKUs for Ryzen 6000 should have the same 96MB (32 on-die + 64 stacked) cache. Non-APU models will have either 96 or 192 depending on the number of CCDs. My guess is that they will lock the R6000 chips into the 5xx series, mostly because the 4xx ones still supporting the Ryzen 1000 series chips doesn't leave enough room on the BIOS ROM to do it. They have already had to drop some CPUs on the 4xx chipsets in order to do the R5000 chips, so either they will have to drop even more to get them to work or just leave them behind.

5900x is a unicorn, but there are plenty of 5950's actually, APU production is not an issue. this is not a gpu with multiple vendors before you even add silicon. this has only one pit stop from fabrication before shipping/distribution and that's packaging. and the number of wafers being fabbed is way up. Europe is always last as they're the furthest, while the priority is North America. idk about this rumor, but the timelines are about right.

AMD need to put an DDR5 APU with the 52CU APU used in Xbox. It will mop the floor on both CPU & GPU segments. And we see that Xbox APU already in PCs but with the IGP cut off. I wonder some times if someone managed to put a proper Xbox APU on that PC

Why? The PC using the Xbox APU has soldered GDDR6, but nothing stops AMD to make an APU with 52CU RDNA2 even 40CU (PS5). Already we are at 12CU RDNA2 with those 6000 series APU Also DDR5 has less latency than GDDR6 Do not forget Xbox/PS5 APU BOM is pretty low and AMD makes profit on each chip

yes, but latency is not as important in DDR as next gen is always higher but at higher frequency as well which more than compensates. but i think you point was well made because DDR5 is just going to be less expensive with easier supply i

Considering how much effort of 0 driver team employees was invested into integrated vega fixes I am not sure if there would be any negative difference between "supporting" and not supporting it.
