Yeah idk, I think The Division is technically more advanced and Snowdrop is definitely the better engine.. but during my time with the beta in wildlands there were definitely moments where I stopped and just took the scene in and went "wow that looks really incredible".

It's a Gameworks trailer but I think this video showcases how good the game looks at scale.

At first I was really put off that my card would just about hit 60fps at 1440p/Ultra but then I tried playing at that setting for a while and was surprised how smoothly it runs! I can't say what does it but it is some kind of magic!

And I run another test. This time with turning off all of the nVidia optimization's.

From article:
well, exactly the opposite if you've tested, it seems like a nasty fps killer on my end.

Well the in-game screen shots look amazing. I wasnt really paying much attention to this game at first.

You have to be joking if you think this game looks good your basically blind.
the graphics are terrible in literally all areas, the motion blur is so bad its not even funny, the aliasing is all over the place, the textures are pretty low resolution, the performance CAN NOT be measured with the in game benchmark at all.
At 1080p Ultra settings preset, I get lowest of 58fps in the benchmark. Whereas in game when driving around or in heavily dense areas it can suddenly sink to as low as 40fps!!!! It feels horrendous to play tbh even with GSYNC on or off.
Also this is not to mention the game it self is a mess, the controls are all over the place, the story mind numbingly basic, and the driving feels like I am controlling a piece of chocolate on a **** trail. (why is the word "l a v a" censored?)
I got a refund on Steam within 30 minutes.

Also there is no way you're getting 40fps on a GTX1080 in this game.. especially at 1080p. I haven't experienced one dip that low on QHD and I don't even overclock my 1080.
That being said, I agree the game isn't that great. The controls are terrible, the story is terrible, the AI is terrible.
TIL I'm blind because I think this looks good:

I was at first curious about the game as it looks pretty good, then read that it's a GW title, and I agree with HH that this isn't a good development. Hence, I'm not gonna buy it.....

I noticed that my CPU use is going up with this new driver, it's now about 37% with this benchmark. Anyone else noticed?

playing in borderless mode seems to help with the stuttering but fps still jump around wildly.
slickric21
Playing full screen here, no stuttering at all.
Previously had those occasional split second lags when entering a new area as it was saving, but those have now been fixed in latest patch.
Running very smooth, but then again GSync probably working it's magic again.
1080p Ultra, fps capped and locked at 60, the odd dip to mid 50's at dusk in certain forested areas due to Ultra Shadows, but infrequent and it doesn't affect gameplay or smoothness with gsync anyway.
Gorgeous looking game on Ultra

Do people just stare at textures or do they play the game? 🤓
I think it looks fantastic. Certainly good enough where I'm not going to nitpick every little detail.

And honestly, despite the fact that the game is a little repetitive and the controls are iffy - especially vehicles, it's so much fun to play with friends. Probably the most fun co-op game I've played in a while.
Yeah, idk what people were smoking when they said the game looks bad. Even the textures don't look bad - there are a few lowerish res ones, mostly inside the cities, but I never notice them unless I specifically look for them.
Undying
Some people will always say visuals are bad. Im still standing behind that Snowdrop Engine and The Division is better looking.
