All good news but you made me laugh with mentioning syntax error, i haven't seen one of those for years and not since i programmed in basic and assembly language, kinda made my day.

Good question. Last I checked main dev was anti-Win10 and anti-DX12. Maybe he changed his mind and ended his silly protest.

SPIR-V opens up for eventual Vulkan hooking with ReShade 4.0 and 4.0.1 here but DirectX 12 would require WIndows 10 and Crosire is using Windows 7 so it's currently not going to happen. From the ReShade forums and the discussions about D3D12 support that pops up every now and again.

So....windows 7 was released in 2009.....no directx 12 support....good to see he's stayed current...but it's good to know I can still use it with Unreal Tournament 3! YAY!!!

The author to Reshade at users request made Reshade into open source. So there is no hinder to make DX 12 compatible. It is his time if he does not want to work for DX 12, who can blame him. I understand it is not easy leap do. But anyway whoever with the skills and time can make it happen. Just wanted to counterargument

Yeah happens, it's a false positive until Defender has updated to newer definitions and the file has been passed through their checks and gotten whitelisted so it has a few generic Trojan warnings depending on which version and what definitions are used, other AV tools frequently flag the setup program as well and then within a week most have it whitelisted again. 🙂 EDIT: Essentially it trips a few heuristic scans and checks plus I don't believe it's digitally signed. (That can be expensive.) and for this some AV's just trip the software automatically if it's lacking digital signatures until it's been verified as clean.

Thanks, seems strange that previous versions have not done this though.

So, I'm new to this whole ReShade thing. What exactly does it do? Is it easy to use? Can it be used in every single game? Finally, what is the cost/performance ande benefit or using it?

It's a .dll working as a injector/hook for Direct 3D and OpenGL, updated to 4.2.0 yesterday so pretty timely bump there. 🙂 It's used for shader effects ranging from anti-aliasing to depth of field, ambient occlusion, color effects and much more. Post-process so overlaid on the screen and thus has some limitations and there can be the occasional bug or compatibility problem but in general it is compatible with almost anything other than D3D12 and Vulkan API titles. (Vulkan has partial support as of 4.0 I believe it was or possibly 4.1 though nothing that can be used as-is.) The forum for ReShade including downloads and such for the latest version probably has better coverage for what it can do and things like the screenshot topic and the release notes and more. 🙂 http://reshade.me/
