Every single time someone buys an MSI Claw, an MSI motherboard cracks.

As long as we dont know how many boards are sold globally, this might just be a fraction of units actually affected, and MSI not commenting right away,
might be because they want to find out first whats going on, instead of commenting like ppl did with the princess of wales, only to have to backpedal on their comments.

Not defending any corporation but calling out MSI for not have an action plan when the extent or even possible truth to this is still in question is media overhype. We'll see.

i would not have any trouble about calling them out, as long as its coming from someone actually affected.
THOSE can actually say anything about a negative/positive response from msi.
i know +8y ago i had purchased an Asus 32in with 75Hz/10bit/passive 3D panel when ppl were saying to stay away (at least from that model),
and one hdmi broke after about 1y (used for cable box), and support said to send it in to get it checked/repaired,
and i complained about time it would take (back&forth) and cost to ship.
was told they would send me a prepaid 2day UPS label and send one out after they received it.
one reason (i personally) wont jump on the "asus = bad support" train.

would really surprise me on their "better" ones.
when i switched to x570, was surprised on how "stiff" the board was compared to other brands in same price range.
unless of course its not caused by design, but manufacturing/QC.

If they already knew these screws were a problem and have since replaced them in production, why didn't they issue a recall on the boards already sold that used these screws?
Instead of having boards fixed in the recall, they seem to have waited for boards to start failing and other parties tracing back the cause to the screws before acting. Even now they just RMA the board that are DOA due to this issue, with leaving customers who have boards with the same screw design used on the heat-sink for their PCH chipsets with a potential timebomb.

I just bought two MSI Z790 GAMING PLUS WIFI at work.
One of them is still sealed in the box the other one refuses to make a bios update from the button with an USB stick - it needs one for a 14th gen Intel cpu - nothing installed, only power supply attached to it and the light flashes for a couple of seconds and it stays red.
Hmm...
I will install it tomorrow with a i5 13600 and see what happens.

I have been using a z790 tomahawk board since last summer, so far it hasn't given me any trouble. Wonder if this problem can happen over time or is it just DOA boards?

Fight Club explained that rather succinctly. Recalls are expensive. The issue likely isn't widespread enough for them to spend the money to do one, and any rep hit is negligible.
