Only one more reason for me to stay clear of anything that's Razer.

I hope mining is banned one day.

Absolute joke of a company, how they are still in business with the extortionate prices and poor quality of their peripherals in anyone's guess. This is just the cherry on the cake.

This is so lame that i don´t know what to say about it... Worst (maybe) only Street Figther 5 now having (optional) ads in-game...

Lol razer. What they are really doing is asking you to send them $5.00 a day 365 days a year which adds up to $1825.00 for a keyboard that costs$185.00. Seems like a good deal to me.

Hey, so Razer have enough confidence in their hardware that they're ok to run "full tilt" for 24hrs a day without expiring in a puff of smoke (hmm, at least not within warranty period I guess)! Doesn't sound very 'Razer' to me!

No one in their sane minds will use anything from RAZER. Nice move tho' 😀DDD

Does Razer even sell GPUs?

I wouldn't be surprised if they jumped on the bandwagon and added such a "feature" with GeForce Experience if Razer gets away with this.

Yes, yes it is. First of all, you cannot redeem the amount in a form of cash, secondly, most certainly all of the "reward" products are severely overpriced. If on an example of Death Adder Essential (50$), which costs 51000 points, where per day on gtx 1050 you generate ~+/- 500 points per day (and that I bet is with your PC running 24/7). With that GPU you will need ~102 Days to generate this point amount. If we do a simple math, that will equal to roughly 0.49$ per day that you generate in their platform with that GPU. Slap on top of it the electricity bill, strain on your hardware, and you can clearly see that you shoot yourself in the leg by significantly overpaying for an already r@z3R trash product. This is Disgusting on so many levels.
$0.49 a day on a 1050 is actually pretty good - at current crypto prices, a GTX 1080 Ti mines about the same. GPUs are designed to run 24/7 and a single 1050 running all day won't add much to your power bill. I'd say this is a pretty good deal for someone who needs/wants gear but doesn't have a lot of free cash.
RealNC:

Do you really think the target audience of this scam is going to undervolt and underclock their GPUs?
It's not about that. Mining puts a constant 100% load on the GPU, meaning that it won't go through heating cycles. I've been heavily into grid computing for the past decade which, like mining, puts a 100% load on my components and it's had no ill effect. The idea that you can wear out a GPU by running it at constant full load is a myth (it's basically personifying hardware, thinking that it needs to rest like human beings).

I legitimately don't understand what everyone is all in a huff about. Sure, it's a little shady, but you're kind of an idiot if you don't realize you could just do the mining yourself and collect the rewards. Like this is something you willingly use. Razer isn't forcing you to do it... All that being said, Razer does tend to cater to people who just like something flashy and don't care about value.

Doesnt have enough money? But has enough to pay that extra electricity?? lol double sword standard right there

That's just greedy. It would be one thing if they were able to get more points a day or not charge so many points for stuff in their shops.

So basically you work for Razer and they pay you with monopoly money. Awesome deal, sign me up!

Yeah I was gonna say something like 50-50 in my previous post, like for example a user generates $1 per day, they keep $0.50 and Razer gives the rest $0.50 in discount/store credits. But no matter how I slice it or go about it, the whole thing it just seems wrong to me personally.

The GTX 1050 is a 75W card - not exactly a power guzzler. That extra heat could also help a bit during the winter months and save on heating bills. Any way you cut it, you still come out ahead (assuming the $0.49 figure is accurate). I think most of the people who view this negatively are doing so because this involves mining. If it was for anything else (like rendering or cloud gaming) then they'd see it as being okay.
