Funny thing I noticed in it...is his press driver seem much older then the one leaked this morning on reddit from a Fry's mistake of selling the RX 580 last night. The XFX RX 580 the guy got from Fry's has drver version 22.19.147.0 (Crimson Press) Beta on the driver install CD and his in the leaked benchmark 22.19.128.33 (Crimson Press) Beta. Just noting performance might be affected by that as well the power issue he describes.

This is not Vega. Why would you put HBM on a midrange gpu anyways at this point.

I just wanna apologize ahead of time to whoever buys this. You can call me a fanboy or whatever. You can say apologist crap like "completion is good." You can ban me. Whatever. This needs to be the Nvidia killer, and Nvidia is a step ahead in SOFTWARE. Sorry to sound like a fanboy, I don't believe in that crap. I do believe software wins in the end though, always. AMD has shown only surface attempts to bring software up to spec. Focusing whatever capital they have for this on hardware. It doesnt matter anymore. If this is Ryzen priced GPU edition. Nope. Sorry. Flame the **** out of me whatever.

This is just a higher-clocked Polaris with a new driver. It's not the "killer" of anything except the 1060.

You have serious problem. As someone who uses both sides in multiple rigs in my house, nvidia software sucks in many ways. The sheer amount it takes to open with an SSD is absolutely pathetic. The fact many a few of my nvidia gpus ,gtx 950,gtx 650ti boost, do not scale correctly with HDMI on my TV and can not use 1920x1080 wihtout scaling it to the screen, but a geforce 8400 gs works perfectly fine with no scaling. My HD 5770 works perfectly with my TV even with legacy drivers under windows 10. Both sides have issues in different ways. Geforce experience is a pile of forced ****. I have it installed to use game streaming to my phone with limelight. And most of all, gues what, Nvidia is garbage in gpu market except high end. The majority of people spend $250 or less on gpus. They get the job for most. Guru3d users on average are a very small part of the big picture. Open you'r damn eyes and stop being an ignorant fool.

I want a Vega with HBM2, because I have a 4k monitor, cant play BF1 with 4k resolution. Maybe wait for Vega or maybe buy the rx580 look nice and have good price. About Nvidia. I dont have one from the fail of gtx480 was a really pain for me. I was fan of SLI and buyed a pair, was terrible expierence. Amd save my depresion when I had My dear 6990.

I'm sure i'm not the only one in here that has no idea what you are talking about.

Nice to see he got it up to 1400-1500MHz. A good example of what the process change enables in that region. Is Vega the same GCN tech as Polaris, or is it newer ? If its the same, i guesstimated last night, that it should be around 11380 Gflops, which is a tad higher than the 1080Ti (all stock, of course, assuming Vega hits 1500MHz). That would make it in between a 1080, and a 1080Ti in games. The extra memory bandwidth from the HBM might make the difference needed to leap just over the 1080Ti, but then again, there will probably not be much overclocking headroom, whereas the Nvidia, appropriately cooled, will probably get better results. AMD could also give us some watercooling headroom, if they were nice, and help there. edit : I'd forgotten its a new NCU rather than a GCN, so not totally comparable. Should be better than that guess.

It's ironic that you like to call people names and yet your pleonasm actually makes you the ignorant one.

Yep, that's it. This is the card that'll be competing against the GTX 1060, outperforming it at a similar price point presumably. The vega line-up which are expected to be released next month will compete with the GTX 1070 & 1080. And no one knows if AMD is going to release a card that'll compete with the 1080 Ti. But if they release cards that outperform the 1070 & 1080, while costing $50 to $100 less, that'll be great.

Yes while you say some stuff about Nvidia is crap like the Geforce experience. If Nvidia mid rage cards were crap like you are claiming then how come they are doing so well that AMD needs do a refresh of their Polaris cards? Nvidia has done some stupid stuff like the 1060 3GB for example.

Product refreshes are standard industry practice. Both AMD and Nv do them all the time. Hell, Intel has been doing them for the last 10 years. đŸ™‚

Zing!! Keeping the flame war the a minimum i'm worried about AMD for when Volta comes out, Vega still isn't out and Volta far as i know is expected to arrive end of this year around Q3/Q4 time. Always seems like AMD is just one step behind when it comes to Intel and Nvidia. Hopefully Vega comes out and can compete with Volta cards but who knows on that front, miss cards like the 5900 and the 7900 series those cards were beast (though a little hot running at times :P (Free heating for the winter months!) )

Looks good, more than double texture fill rate of my card. RX570 will be a great card for me, about time too cuz I'm in agony to turn my freesync on.

Looks carp to me. But hoping for some cracked bios to appear for my 480.

Would modding the bios even do anything? Adding a 5% overclock or so should have much the same effect if it's about performance although I guess voltage, power draw, fan settings and other parameters are in the bios too and not all of it can be edited by the user. (Would modding the bios work at all for that matter, they probably tweaked both the GPU and the stock PCB since they're calling this core by a different name though it could be minor tweaks.)
