So we got a M290x rebrand of 8970m that is rebrand of 7970m equipped with APU that bottleneck the sh1t out of it GPU, no thanks MSI.

Disappointing that we're seeing yet another rebrand. Sticking with this a while longer I guess.

Not surprised its just a rebrand, laptop would bloody melt if it was a proper 290. 😀

Heh, my old 3630QM is twice as fast - suppose that Destroyer is destroying cheap.

What's the point of Laptops with upcoming Steam Machines? Gaming Laptops are way overpriced.

That. But, who knows, maybe people these days really like to bring a monitor or TV screen wherever they go, with their Steam machines to boot. Or a portable screen, about the size of a tablet! Or one that's attached to a lapto-...oh. :P

i'm curious about the APU aspect - why is it there if there is a dedicated GPU in the system? im guessing its AMD's version of optimus - trying to save you some battery life when you're not gaming. if they had an actual mobile version of the 290x it would be nothing short of an absolute failure imo, much too high a power draw, and far too much heat to be even remotely feasible in a laptop form factor. the rebrand was the only logical move AMD could make in this situation.
