You thought GFWL was bad and destructive for PC gaming with many GFWL games now unplayable and only left at the mercy of devs/modders to remove that? Well think again, it was nothing compared to horrors of Windows Store DRM. I'll just leave this here.
Windows 10 store exclusive means it is built as a windows app which means: No SLI/Crossfire, Windows 10 store download is buggy, No refund policy explained, Vsync is always on, Always borderless fullscreen, Game files are protected, Can't launch it via the exe (So adding it as a non steam game will not work) No fps/hardware monitor software works with it, You need to take control of the folder as admin if you want access to the files Mouse software which lets you create custom binds for each game doesn't work Say bye to using sweetfx and mods EDIT: I'm not making this up or taking it from other sources. I'm part of the Closed BETA for Fable Legends and have Minecraft Windows 10 Edition. I've came across all of these issues
Windows (cr)appstore is a DRM-ridden pos that treats all users as stupid children, worse than Steam, Uplay or Origin in most regards. -You need to take ownership over the application folder to be able to acces the game files -You can't modify anything like configuration or game files without triggering the DRM. -You can't copy the game files wherever you want and/or execute them directly from game .exe -Probably no such thing as an offline mode - need to be logged in with your Microsoft ID all the time. -The DRM is deeply integrated into the OS -It's actually worse than their old GfWL client
Now our biggest gripe with this – apart from the fact that Microsoft is doing its best to promote its platforms – is that this game may be plagued by the same issues that already affect the Windows store version of Rise of the Tomb Raider. The Windows store version of Rise of the Tomb Raider does not support exclusive full screen and SLI/Crossfire, and PC gamers can’t use third party overlay programs (such as FRAPS or MSI Afterburner). Windows 10 download progress bar does not accurately display progress. • Due to a UI issue download progress may not be accurately displayed (despite downloading without issue). • When pausing and resuming the download, it may appear that the download has reset (appears to start from 0). However, actual download progress has not been affected.

It's Microsoft, what do you expect? All gamers should boycott this nonsense.

No Steam, no buy.

Well, that will hurt sales greatly! So once again it's just empty words from MS that they take pc gaming seriously, and windows 10 as a gaming platform. All the things they av done for gaming on windows for the last 10 years (GFWL) as been more anti-gaming than pro.. Thought about getting this, but seeing all the limitations (x-fire/sli etc.) i will not buy it before it perhaps will come on steam.

Personally I wouldn't have problem in having multiple portals for games from different companies. But one thing that is important, is that the portal has to be good to be used. So far nothing compares even remotely to steam. So they really have a long way to go in terms of development. That being said, I have no personal experience of windows store. Acually I do like Blizzards launcher, but that doesn't really compare as it's only for so small content. (quality is great though)

So this is worse than GFWL huh?...wow, didn't think that was even possible. Oh well, I didn't even know about this game until now, guess I'll pass on it and all the other xbone "exclusives" that come out on PC with this DRM.

No Steam, no buy.
even on steam i wouldn't have buy it... steam is just a step better, but it's still not a good portal.

According to Aaron Greenberg, Microsoft hadn't planned to release the game on PC alongside the Xbox One but their plans changed shortly afterwards. They didn't realize that it was possible to bring the game to PC in such a short amount of time
Gee, I wonder if it's going to be a crappy console port.
I wish Linux had better developer support and larger game library. I feel ready to get the hell out of world of windows.....
That and some better hardware support. I've been using linux as my mane os ever since I start it testing windows's 10 BS antics.

This will hurt the sales of the game really bad on PC. Well I guess I just have to skip it then. I have ZERO desire to make an online login on my PC.

Steam is the only DRM I'm willing to tolerate and that's only because it offers as much convenience as inconvenience.

Another stillborn pc product thanks to microsoft.

MS needs to trick people on to Win10 and they are paying the game developer to help them do that.
It doesn't really have anything to do with that. On PC it's dx12 exclusive in any case, so it could have been released on Steam, and people would still have needed Win10. This has more to do with MS wanting more people to use its own store and probably to advertise the sync between Windows and Xbox.

Not a big deal to me.

Glottiz pointed out why this is WAY worse than Steam.

i agree but steam is already in my "not acceptable zone"... so you can imagine if it is worse 🙂 lol
