Here we go again. People have been trying to make a dino game/mod, mainly Jurassic Park inspired, since the first CryEngine. Fun fact: it was a Jurassic Park game, Trespasser, which was the first game engine that had real time physics.

I quite enjoyed that game...is that the one where you had breasts too when you looked down? i found that quite amusing 😀

The clarity of the graphics in this clip is fantastic! Dunno what they'd be like on a posh, high-end card like some of you have, but with my current card, I have no complaints at all. 🙂

This. Lets not forget the PS3 title "Jurassic the hunted" and Turok. They try...they fail. Let me explain why Dino's in video games are bad. For realism, you need hundreds of species per scene depending on the area and era and a complex A.I. system for both predators and prey. Archeology has shown in recent years that life was extremely dense and highly varied species per mile compared to how it's commonly percieved. But for a typical game, you need more than a T-rex boss and a few large dino's here n there ready to attack you cause that crap gets old quick. Secondly is gameplay. A hunting game would be all it could really amount to less you want to replace aliens from Serious Sam with Dino's. Animation and graphics would be a key to similar success, however devs get lazy when it comes to animating animals. Lastly, T-rex's couldn't have survived by walking around roaring all the time, it tends to scare their food away. And they swooshed their tail around, not let it statically lay straight behind them. Also there were many great predators besides T-rex and similar ones to them.

That's one of the major reasons Trespasser, although groundbreaking, failed. They really wanted to create a whole ecosystem. Then you have most the dinosaurs not even living in the same time period constantly being shown together, combined with paradigm shift - I doubt we'll ever get a real view of how it was. Hell, now we're going full circle here, but the Cryengine started out as a tech demo with dinosaurs and their attempt to create that type of world: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=455 Then strangely enough, Dino D Day is probably one of my favorite dino games, and it's the most unrealistic thing ever, which makes it great. Maybe someday someone will get it just right.

I think Jurasic the Hunted did a good job except for the graphics and the idea of boss battles. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVdRvv_b_es I say Mix Crysis 3 with the idea of some kind of time disorder where the dino era got mixed up with the current.
