Yeah, they're dropping 10%. Off their infalted prices... still bought 2x8GB and 4x8GB DDR4 Gskill Tridents for less money than they cost now, when I built my last rig.

It's hard to imagine the prices a couple of years ago would have been unreasonably low. Considering the advancement of technology, they looked like realistic prices. People didn't feel like not building a PC because they couldn't afford the memory. However, of late the DRAM prices were such that they really affected enthusiasm, especially since video cards were expensive as well. It was equally weird to see how the ready-made PCs sold by stores could suddenly be shipped with less memory than they used to. That's degeneration, which isn't common in the computer industry (although such also happened when the floods affected the HDD industry).

Honestly, I wouldn't say it's a thing of the computer industry... it's a rising demand being met by NOT rising production. This creates a "shortage" scenario where the companies only win. This is basic economics, isn't it? 😉

Prices are a little better but still way off from where it should be my 16gb gskill 3200mhz cost 200$ last year black friday it's still about 175$ now my ryzen 1600 only cost me about 230$ at the same time that felt dirty paying almost the same for ram as a 6core CPU.

Prices are all over the place, i paid £109 for my Corsair Vengeance LED 2x8GB DDR4-3200 16GB DDR4 3200MHz in April 2017 but current prices ive seen range form £165 to almost £300....still way too high.

Still way too expensive. The high end kits (3200 CL14 and above) don't seem to drop that much anyway. Cheaper models are dropping a bit more it looks like, but 32 GB B-die kits still cost an arm and a leg. Several of these are actually more expensive than a year ago here in Norway.

200-300$ is still the average amount of money needed for a proper build. Neither cheap, nor expensive. It surely could be less pricey to be honest.

Ordered 2x8GB RAM for $186 as the cheapest acceptable kit I could for a Ryzen system. It never arrived because it's NewEgg and they're trash. So I ordered the next cheapest thing I deemed acceptable off of Amazon for $246 listed as shipping in 2 days, and as soon as I order it's listed as "we'll notify you when a shipment date is available". By the time I get my fracking RAM it'll be half the cost it is now.
It feels nice getting raped on RAM prices every generation that I can remember. DDR2? $220. DDR3 $220, then $220 again. DDR4? $246 for a kit that was $80-90 2 years ago. Feels Asian-companies-are-price-fixing man.http://www.stickpng.com/assets/images/58486a72849cf46a2a931338.png
