Someone was describing this very game earlier in work this evening, gotta say it looks promising, the top down view and the graphics look very enticing. so long as it's not a point and clicker i'm 'in'.

I hope this project succeeds, looks very promising. But there is only 15 days left and they don't even have 1/3rd of the backing they need yet.

I agree. Would be a real shame.

"Sui generis is a Neo-Latin expression, literally meaning "of its own kind/genus", or unique in its characteristics." I think they were going for that..

Visually it looks fantastic, love the shadows and lighting. The game itself is of no interest to me though, hate these sort of games.

The thing i'm mostly worried about is that it might end up as a tech demo instead of a game with great content. Is it a dungeon crawler with limitless loot to get? Or does it have a story arc? The animation thing bothers me a bit :P it looks as if someone is dragging the limbs. reminds me of puppets. The tech powering all this is great though.

It's clear this guy put everything into making that engine. His meticulous attention to detail and seemingly god-like programming skills are enough to make John Carmack or Tim Sweeney blush. I hope this succeeds, but if not that video should be enough to convince any game developer to be begging for his employment. 🙂

They put all that effort into getting perfect physics etc, but the main character runs and walks like he is ice-skating Looks impressive all the same

One guy did all that on his own, in his spare time lol. This man is a coding genius. I can imagine a Diablo 4 or some similar type of game using this engine. With a full team working on it i'm sure an amazing game could be built.

Damn impressive I have to say! But the dude and other characters act as if they are drunk haha. I presume this game is intended to be offline?

Damn! When I first saw the title of this thread, I was transported back across time and space myself to another world where my biggest concern was translating a passage out of Cicero's speeches! 😉

This game is going to be immense! Really a monumental milestone in PC gaming. To say it's come from a small indie group is incredible. Made everything themselves. Genius. The "problems" that people are having with the videos - animations, lack of storyline, etc - are not actually problems. The developers have already said that they will be hiring a pro-animator to do the animations, and the storytelling aspects and ideas for an immersive world are in fact very mature and well established, although they don't want to give everything away before they've even started! What they're saying is that they've got the ideas to make an awesome game, the (incredible, innovative) tools to make it, a project plan and timeline of 18 months, now all they need is the £150,000 funding required in order for the project to go ahead, rather than sell their souls to some producer. For sure, we can't expect them to show us a finished product at this stage - it will take 18 months to make, so what we're seeing here is pre-pre-pre-alpha footage. It will be a travesty if they don't make their Kickstarter target. I've pledged already, and I urge anyone with any vague passion for PC gaming to pledge too.

Sui Generis is an awesome RPG in early stages of development that has some incredibly innovative tech, notably the physics, and also the graphics. The game promises to be the next big thing in PC RPGs, favouring realism and immersion rather than shallow casual gaming. This project needs to raise £150,000 on Kickstarter in order to go ahead. So far, it's raised £78,000, with just 6 days to go. If you have any passion for PCs and/or RPGs, please have a look: http://www.baremettle.com/sg/media/ If you like what you see, please consider pledging on Kickstarter (which basically involves promising to pay for the game now if it's funded, and receiving the game when it's finished in 18 months time): http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1473965863/sui-generis Projects such as this desperately need your help. It is a good cause, allowing indie developers to produce fantastic boundary-pushing games. Importantly, by cutting out the middle man (i.e. the producers), the gamers who are willing to pay for the game up front are the boss, rather than some big corporation taking a cut of the money for nothing.

I've already pledged, but the current money level is far from the target. Anyone got spare 60k GBP?
