It's obviously not the highend beast most people want but if someone didn't yet upgrade to a 780 series I can definitely see these being an awesome pick up. That being said, I'm not getting one.

Stock 780GTX is still stronger, that 880GTX doesn't look that special either, probably end up between 780GTX and 780Ti.

Hmm I wonder how overclockable these cards will be? Pretty interesting specs though. It will be interesting to see what AMD comes out with.

Should always take these with a large grain of salt. Maybe they will have much higher clocks, if the 750 Ti is any indication with it's low power and low heat. Probably won't be a big deal for people that already own $400+ video cards, but if the price is right, and it's looking like it might be, then it should be an awesome buy for a lot of people.

It's impressive for the TDP, but I doubt that's a big deal for the majority of people buying cards like these.

I get the feeling that clocks will be the only way these have higher performance levels. If you look at the hardline specs, they have less everything than GK110. Less cores, less ROPS, etc

no 3200 cores on the 880 like was posted front page last WEEK?

the 880 will kill every 700 series easily anyways, 880ti will be nice, real 680 in 2015.

Unless it has some incredible driver optimizations then no it won't. Not with those specs anyway. Nvidia is not aiming for top of the line highend here, this will be their mass market GPU solution. Something that is cheap to make, cheap to sell, but packs a hefty punch. Still if you want bleeding edge you are best off getting a 780Ti, R9 290X, or waiting it out for the GTX980 or the R9 390X.

imo yes it will, cause no.1 it's using Maxwell cores like the lil devil itself the 750ti. 880 will outdo 780ti with ease.

was expecting a higher cuda core count. 256 bit at 7ghz is on 224gb/s bandwidth too. Hopefully this is just more fud and not the real specs.

with a mild OC you're at 8000mhz on the ram, a full 30% faster than 680 stock speed. no doubt folks will go beyond 8000mhz, now couple this with high end Maxwell card like this is and it's a winner with not a single bottleneck in sight. the 880 classified I don't even wanna ..

Nah I dont think it will go over 8000 on the vrams, maybe on a select few samples. You do not see many 770`s or 780 ti go over 8000. Mine can go to about 7770.

It takes miracle to beat 780ti with those specs. Higher resolutions will eat it alive.

ah I thought they were clocked around 7400 I see the OP now. anything over 7500 would be nice, with one of my current it's stuck around 6800, at least when it gets filled up and stressed(the non-ftw one). ftw one has Sammy, other has Hynix.

256bit bus? not a bottleneck? With also rumoured 6GB cards coming?? Who the hell would put 6GB on a 256bit frame buffer? Lower cuda core count... sure its using Maxwell cores, but that is not just a few lower its nearly 900 cuda cores lower! bandwidth... 780ti 336GB/s compared to 224.5GB/s these are stock speeds. But overclock that 780Ti and you would break 350GB/s quite easily with good cooling. You would have to overclock that memory on the 880 pretty damn high to achieve similar bandwidth. Even then yet again we have only a 256bit bus so you will hit that bottleneck overclocking the memory much quicker than if it has a 384bit bus. On paper it will not win, not a chance in hell. Unless overclocked A LOT, which we know Maxwell can do. But then again not everyone likes to or know how to overclock. And with these coming in a lower prices Nvidia would shoot themselves in the foot if these performed better than their more expensive previous cards.

yes because 512 bus vram is lightning fast eh? twice the speed of 256 eh? 😀 the speed the ram runs at is what counts, just like system ram /timings. haha

Yes I know, but the wider the bus the lower you can run memory speeds but still achieve a fast bandwidth as you have a wider path for data to travel as is proven with the R9 290/X with 512bit bus and much lower stock memory speeds yet still achieving similar bandwidth, and still room to overclock to get even more bandwidth. Also its not really the same as system ram, timing nowadays mean nothing really if the ram is fast enough you wont notice the higher timing. Its not like it was with DDR1 where timing were more or less everything. Also performance basically drops off when you go past 2133MHz for a gaming PC. It will make no difference, unless you are running some form of extreme memory intensive tasks like video editing, etc where you need to throw around large chunks of data quickly and even then having a fast SSD drive will give better performance results than going from 2133MHz memory to 2400MHz memory.

I'll wait for pascal myself

Why am I not surprised to see you post something like this?
