yes because 512 bus vram is lightning fast eh? twice the speed of 256 eh? 😀 the speed the ram runs at is what counts, just like system ram /timings. haha
What? Bus counts as well. My 680s at 7200 only had a 230gb/s bandwidth. Thats with a 1200mhz oc. My current cards at 7516 sit at 360gb/s.

Why am I not surprised to see you post something like this?
his every post in this thread was kinda like this.. 😀

Too many people stuck on "specs" that are meaningless without knowing anything about the architecture itself. Comparing Kepler and Maxwell based on the presented data is like comparing Kepler to Hawaii on "specs". It doesn't matter how many "cuda cores" each architecture has. It matters how efficient the cores are, and how exactly they operate.

Not really a surprise to see people looking at otherwise meaningless data and trying to predict performance either.... We know absolutely nothing about Maxwell at this point, so the specs really mean nothing.

Well in this particular case I think it's pretty clear based on the pricing and stuff. I mean Maxwell is already out and pretty well detailed. It's a more refined Kepler. Nvidia whitepapers and 750Ti basically shows it at 35% more performance per watt. Now if these cards were running at the same wattage of a 780Ti I'd say maybe they could out perform in that case, obviously.. but according to the rumors they aren't. At this point I think its pretty obvious that Nvidia can't produce a "big maxwell" on 28nm. They need that die shrink to make the chip larger. GK110 is massive and with that size comes increasingly exponential manufacturing cost. So yeah, I don't think you're going to get a quicker chip until 20nm or an major revision to the architecture or whatever Nvidia's waiting for. I think they will perform better then most people are saying but I don't think they are going to be game changing. That being said all these numbers could be completely fake, or they attached 36 K1 chips that offload complete processing for 10000000x performance increase. Or maybe they are using the mythical XDRAM for free AA wooooo! But seriously who knows at this point.

Speculation is fine, it's fun to discuss what hardware can do for us, and what might come to pass. Thus my earlier statement about the TDP -- although I'm not holding my breath. As long as it's grounded I'm alright with it. I do agree that until we see a launch it's all up in the air, hopefully we haven't long until we find out. ..Posting outright nonsense on the other hand, is another thing entirely.

Yeah, think we've had enough nonsense the last couple days....lol BUT, there's always room for more!!!

Well if these "specs" are real, then it's def another GTX 680 scenario. I hope they aren't, but whose to say, it's all up in the air.

You mean another one of those scenarios made up by the NVidia fanboys that can't believe that NVidia actually released the GPU they intended to, as the exact model they intended for it to be?

Thats the thing, these specs can be just as fake as the other rumors.

it will never beat the Riva TNT 2 ! What a card that was 🙂

Whats wrong with the 680? 600 series were BEASTS I mean 660 was as fast as 580 and 680 was just a monster compared to previous generation 580.

And these cards could dominate Kepler.... Until launch and subsequent reviews, we really don't know anything for certain.

It was faster for sure, I don't know about "monster" 25% faster then 580 on average, it had a lot better thermals and power usage though. The problem is on paper the 680 was clearly better than the 580. It had triple the CUDA cores, better clocks and more memory. If the 880 specs here are accurate then that's not the case this time around. The 880 has less then the 780Ti and even the 780. Again if the specs here are accurate, I can't see it besting the 780Ti. At most Maxwell's architecture will make it perform similarly if not slightly below.

I love how Nvidia and AMD are conditioning us just like the oil company's and gas in the states. They are selling us mid range parts for $499.99 and calling it 680/880, when we used to get that level of card for $299.99(260/460/560/) then they release the top card 780 $699.99 and a few months later re-release it with a bit more cores780ti for $749.99 We see this 860/870/ and 880 and think WOW what a good deal we are getting 780ti performance for $499.99, what happened to the days when a new top card took 1.5 to 2 of the last gen top card to beat it, @ the same price point.

Wait for GM200 then.. Nv saw a good milking trick with GK104 they will continue with this trend.. Make mid-range chip around as fast as last-gen and sell it for high-end then 1 year later repeat with real high-end chip.

Yeah, I agree with this. I'm tired of seeing the 770 for low to mid $300's. It hasn't dropped a dime since it came out more than a year ago. It offers very mediocre performance...

lol? It was 399$ when it came out? Medicore performance? Go home your drunk.. it offers a good performance for a mid/high range card.
