I thought AMD already came out and said the 8970 was OEM only.

Looks decent, although I'm not a fan of AMD's drivers personally. I do hope that pricing is true because NVIDIA do seem to pushing the price of high-end single GPU cards up and up. AMD had to drop their prices when the GTX 680 launched so hopefully this will force NVIDIA to drop theirs, which they will have to if this card is as fast or faster than a GTX 780.

Top-secret R&D bunker somewhere in Yukon. AMD junior recruits are brainstorming :bonk: - how about... we keep 1/3rd of the heat sink safely covered and tucked away from the reach of fan - That's an excellent idea. Everyone will be like WTF, and we'll be like MWAHAHAHA http://abload.de/img/ricfbdqvdydk.jpg

I call it fake as well ... though like NVIDIA showing off GTX480 way before they even really have a real product fake when they initially showed it off lol. deltatux

AMD could never be so mighty as to show off a fake that uses wood screws. :wanker:

I'm calling fake as well. If you look closely, the PCB appears to be orangish-brown under the cooler, but green on the side....

Well at least specs are somewhat true, I would still prefer this version though Render Config Shading Units: 2560 TMUs: 160 ROPs: 48 Compute Units: 40 Pixel Rate: 50.4 GPixel/s Texture Rate: 168.0 GTexel/s Floating-point performance: 5,376.00 GFLOPS

I think too it is a fake, but the pcb color is normal... pcb are made of sandwitch layers, and only the last layers put the color you want ( red, black, green etc ).. with an APN, the color of the side could be just how they reflect the light and so environnement. Anyway, the size of the card look too a problem.. really too short ... far.. far of a 7970..

not everybody wants a full tower, i personally like mid towers much much more...so...shorter cards are tons better than huge ugly outdated metal piece of **** for mediocre performance increase each generation. 🙂

What mid tower etc have to do with that.. If you want a small, innefficient card, just buy a GT640..

My GT640 has a sub-75w TDP and provides quite reasonable performance for a budget card. How is that inefficient? It provides roughly 50% the performance of my GTX660 with less than 50% the power consumption. Seems pretty efficient to me... The GTX660 is the same length as my GT640 though....
