Looks like Plextor is catching up with the Asus RAIDR, which was released last year. The read and write speeds are similar. I wonder if the new Plextor is also RAID 0 based, like the Asus. BTW: Two conventional SSDs in RAID 0 perform better than the speeds claimed by Plextor and Asus. If the Plextor is just as expensive as the Asus then two conventional 256GB SSDs may be cheaper as well.

Maybe if they used something other than the crappy Marvell chip it would of been better.

Can anyone explain to me why it has taken so long for SSD's to reach the fast read & write speeds that we've finally been seeing for the past 9 months? ...How difficult is it to be given the max theoretical speeds for SATA 3, and then deliver a product with that performance? It is just the industry being stingy, starting with slow products, so they can increase the speed of next years products - to ensure they have a product to sell, thus ensuring their future as a viable company?
