No more clock fluctuations as it can keep the max frequency easy :P

Better looking than original... neat

Wouldn't it be great if GPU manufacturers would produce custom PS/XBOX machines? Say no to overheating for only ~50-100$ more than MSRP... unless you want the watercooled edition.

Super neat!

Extremely nice, one thing I would change though, the fans on the radiator, I would point them the other way around, hot air escapes instead of building it in(Despite video showing otherwise/May help in the long run). And look at that back plate, Holy Lordy. Amazing project, thanks for sharing.

No it wouldn't be great because there is no overheating (I have XSX and PS5). So why pay more for no reason? Consoles are supposed to be cheap.

I'm an advocate against water cooling and modding in general but damn: this person work is art! This is how water cooling should be done, looks and runs amazingly!

@Glottiz does anyone force you to buy the watercooler version like they do with gpus? oh wait, they dont. its the buyers choice consoles are cheap? says who? haven't seen a global price limit for consoles. might wanna google: PS (as in first one) price PS5 price ...

Well my first time seeing the console PS5 and it looks awesome ,wonder if Xbox looks as good , then that water cooling is genius. Thanks for sharing the video.

With better cooling those consoles could boost their clocks way higher.

lol they should create their own console , 10/10 on looks better then sony for sure !

The RAM on the PS5's back has been shown to be on fire by GN, and that's with probes not stuck directly on the centres because they want to leave the original paste/whatever intact for future reviews/comparisons. That and of course Soyny used liquid metal for the main SoC after they found out they cheaped out too hard and MS's is way more powerful so they had to crank up GPU clocks to the limit. The back RAM's already dangerously hot with those measurements and I wouldn't be surprised if the centers are 25C higher, and the hot spots even higher than that. The PS5 RAM is definitely overheating, it's not within spec of any RAM I've ever heard of for normal use. Even the rest of it is not that cool. If I had a PS5 I'd definitely want to custom cool it if I could. Just removing the plates/covers reduces the backside burning RAM's temperature by 5C. And I'd bet money it's rarely running at its max clocks, because if it was, Sony wouldn't have had to be such weasels with their marketing or even have a dynamic clock. Microsoft doesn't and still runs at higher clocks aside from on the GPU which theirs is far more powerful anyway. Let me know when your not overheating PS5 dies, so I can say I told you so.

Agree, hot doesn't mean overheating...

You do know Youtubers sometimes dig up sensationalist problems because they need views? I watch Gamer's Nexus sometimes, but he's just a guy making Youtube videos. He isn't engineer afaik. There is no VRAM problems on PS5, there are already millions sold. There's also SpawnWave Youtuber who did similar tests to GN and found VRAM temperatures are very reasonable. So in this case I trust Sony engineer's with master's degree more than random Gamer's Nexus youtuber guy. So yeah, you can believe who you want, it's up to you. But you'll have to wait for a very very long time for my PS5 to die haha.

You don't need to be an engineer to stick in a probe that'll be giving a ready much colder than the actual main temperature because of its location. And he is an engineer AFAIK, unless an engineering degree doesn't qualify as one by your strawmanning definition. Yes, that reading off a probe is so much sensationalization. Those damn probes, always exaggerating their already 40C too cold readings due to not being on the centre.

Yeah because engineers told to go for a specific physical design at the lowest cost possible so long as it doesn't explode are telling you that a probe saying the thing is on fire is a liar. They came to your house, busted down your door, and told you "don't listen to probe readings". And again, Steve is an engineer, as if that fucking matters. You can deny reality and plug your ears as much as you want but PS5s have already died and being insanely higher than expected temps on the RAM chips is a fucking problem. Your absolute, disingenuous seeming, denial of the sky being blue is a bit baffling. Every single thing you said was a pretty vile strawman argument that had no value or was an outright a lie. Your TUF 3080 would be cooler than the PS5's RAM by A LOT if you removed the VRAM heatsink portion. Since it's not a problem, go ahead and remove it bro, it's way cooler than the PS5 regardless, so it's fine, right? That area of the PS5 board is heated so much that the PCB itself is in danger.

@Neo Cyrus Well this escalated quickly. GN tested 1 PS5 unit. Sony sold millions and counting. Do you realize how ridiculous you sound with these conspiracy theories? And why did you ignore my comment about another Youtuber who also did tests and found VRAM temps to be normal?

This is why you're unbelievably full of shit. Yet another completely disingenuous strawman calling it a conspiracy, it's a conspiracy as the sky is blue, but you already know that. Every single you think you say is just a dick move to try to warp the subject into meaningless gibberish. Conspiracy? God you're annoying, but that was the goal since you don't actually have a point. Just degenerate the subject into crap and pretend you believe the crap. Can't argue a point if the point is a lightyear behind buried behind infinite meaningless garbage. GN's methods are actually scientific, using pro equipment. You mention some random YTer no one's ever heard of, provide no link, then cross your arms acting like you actually made a point. If you want to play that game why are you ignoring all the dead PS5s? The thing isn't even a year old yet. "Conspiracy", people like you have made that word completely and utterly meaningless, stop embarrassing yourself. When yours fries, remember how far you went out of your way to troll like a child fanboy and ask yourself it it was worth it.

He means THIS guy. To be honest, he does a good job and his videos are quite informative. However, GN videos seem to get even deeper.

@Neo Cyrus and you know how many of the (most likely) triple digit million customers around the world care? probably 5. its absolutely IRRELEVANT. if there WAS any issue, its covered by warranty (you heard of those right?) so how many defective units? vs how many sold? even if 100K are broken, if i sold 100 million, its not even an indicator. list me some global numbers from authorized/sony repair centers, and i might start to believe you... since the 1st one came out, sony outsells xb by 1-4x. because joe and joanne on this planet care about the titles released on those units, not the clock speeds or ram temps. the only one with a known major heat issue, was MS with the xb.

I saw this like a better PSU being used dont cause coilwhine. I dont think PS5 need watercooling, as it quiet and dont even remotely get as hot as my ps4 did after 5+ hours of playing. PS5 PSU still has coilwhine but no where near as bad as pro whine was. As for the Ram being hot, system working I also bought 4year protection plan for the system when I bought from Walmart, so if does go in that time I fine, and even then I will find way to have them replace it for some reason before that time is up. we should have revisions by then IF 5+ hours of runing ps5 games and the system remains quiet and no mention of overheating, I think I am fine.
