I paid £425 for my launch PS3 but at the time I wanted a BD player, which were very expensive at that time if you bought a standalone unit, so I justified the outlay. With no new disc format on the horizon, I would be loathe to pay that amount again for the PS4, especially as I ended up with a cutdown PS3 Slim due to hardware failure which has half the USB ports, no memory expansion slots and no PS2 compatibility either. The PS3 is the only console I've bought that not only got smaller with each revision but also lost features with each one!!! The new PS3 Super Slim has even lost the slot-loading disc mechanism now.

That disk mechanism in the newer ps3 is so so cheap.

still have my original release day PS3 ,no issues thank god.I also bought it as a BD player and for the backward use.Tiny Drive on it but its worth it considering the hugely cut down PS3 they sell now.

ps3 was the best investment...bluray and bd 3D, after so many years it made me happy, because my 3dtv took life without spending more money...just the old 2007'd ps3 🙂 6 years now it's alive and hard rocking, gaming and movies 🙂
i can't wait for ps4, SONY is so superior to Microsoft, xbox 360 died because of updates, different hardware on newer consoles, incompatibility, NO MS I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER XBOX 360 OR 720, NOOBS, you know nothing about console gaming...ps4 ftw

If only their games were cheaper .. ps3 games are 70 odd dollars for me unless they're pretty old :-/

They are cheaper if you decide to import them. only a few games are region bound.

I still have my release day fat 60 that I've upgraded to a 750. Works like a champ and never had an issue with it. I have a busted fat 60 that I got from my buddy for parts just in case something happens in the future. Was hoping to have 2 working fat 60s but the video keeps going out on the second one... think it happened during shipping because he never had issues with it.

LoL, no ToL (trolling out loud), ALL old xbox with updates are broken...but almost all ps3 are alive...it's a huge difference the ALL with almost none...
