Not everybody lives in Portugal though, I think 6900xt was down to £650 at one point at either OCUK or Scan.

The only time buying last gen makes sense if it's like 1/3rd the price of current gen and your budget is very limited. For similar price buying last gen is utter nonsense. You are losing on efficiency, features, support longevity.

nVidia knows that it has that mindshare, and the RTX 4070 Ti would be lapped up even at 799USD (and that's just the FE model) AIB cards are gonna cost more. In Asia, where the mindshare is at level where it boggles the mind, it's gonna be lapped up with them asking for more. Already there's talking here that an AIB made RTX 4070 Ti is gonna cost as much, if not more than the RX 7900 XTX (AIB models)....and judging from crazy mindshare here, I'd say it sounds about right.

my funny bone will shatter when the 4060/ti prices are "revealed" but hey they doing what i said they always would, sell less card and much higher prices to those "willing" to pay that crazy prices to keep there profits i guess my 1070ti is getting ran into ground before i replace it.
i can buy prebuilt pc for 800~899$ and get the 3060 gpu with it which cheap them some scalping going on still

All this is related to 4k/60fps bullshit, if not, a mid range gpu is enough to play any game on full hd (1080p/60fps+) ultra graphic settings.

1440p is a good middle ground and it still runs fine on midrange gpus. You can then use the upscaling and still looks better than native 1080p.

Nvidia gaming division revenues are down by almost 50%. I don't know why some people keep saying these cards are being lapped up. They aren't. If they're out of stock it's because there's no demand, and no one wants to lower the price.

Why not !! for me, 1080p/60 fps with ultra graphics is enough for now 🙂, maybe with next gen graphics, i mean unreal engine 5+ it will be interesting to play on 4k/60 fps, we still have time (2-3 years i think), wait and see !!

Efficiency? Like the 7900xtx overheating issues, features that the average gamer may never use and support longevity, who keeps a card longer than the warranty. Most people game at 1080p with a 2060. If current reporting is anything to go by and there are other markets outside of the US and Europe, last gen is selling very well.

Yeah bud i get that but for many people it's not as big a deal, also availability is a thing, and let's not forget the apathy towards the new gen cards. DCS loves raw power but I'm also about to start on the Rwdux versions of Metro 1 and 2 and even at 4k my 6900xt at 2.6 will be just fine. So I'm now wondering whether or not to bother with a 4090.

I agree, that's total BS. Now, it's 4K/High Refresh for a better experience. In a couple of years, it'd be 8K/60Hz (or higher). It's just marketing pushing us to go higher and higher, and it should come as no surprise that GPU makers are behind this push.
I game at two res (well, duh I have two monitors and two system). One's 3840x1080 32:9 144Hz gaming monitor which is a little tougher on my GPU than 1440P (16:9) and another with an old Acer at 3440x1440 75Hz with my RX 6900 XT. The 6900 XT should be good enough to handle rasterize gaming at this res with some headroom to spare.
4K isn't for me, for now, as long as I have two excellent monitors to game with. I do agree, as HH says so with every GPU review, 1440P is the sweet spot, excellent PQ without compromising framerate (like 4K)...

Sure it can. People will buy them by the truckload . I predict a sell out day one. Youtubers already saying they are excited to finally get a 4000 series card under $1000 and they think the price is reasonable. Last gen, gamers were happy to pay $900 for an 8GB 3070Ti toward the end of the shortage. They were thrilled with it. So, the 4070Ti is only being priced based on what people already love to pay for this class of card.
People like me who normally buy the $6-700 cards like 980Ti and 1080Ti will see this card in their price range. Sure, it's a 70 class, but they will simply lower their expectations for what they get for that price. Maybe next gen they will lower their expectations again and get a 5060Ti for $800. As long as Nvidia offers a card for anything less than $1000, gamers are thrilled. Seems simple enough.

Around 1200€ for a decent custom card, so say MSI Gaming X. That's the best case scenario.
