Thanks. Great review. 4K60FPS on a single GPU. Now this is real. Modified beast with Liquid cooling=1500$. But it's fastest GPU. Interesting what Volta can do. 4K60FPS at 180W? I have a question: do you remember VRAM usage Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor at 5K?

Thank you very much for the wonderful review Hilbert! What an amazing card, although the price is rather hefty (even though last year's Titan X cost about as much in my country as this new one does). Maybe if I could sell my current one and starve a couple of weeks I could scrape together enough to get one, haha. Do you know if the four corner mounting holes around the GPU for the heatsink are the same distance as the 1080 and Maxwell Titan X? I wonder if I could mount my EVGA Titan X 2015 (or 980Ti, 980, etc. since they are the same) Hybrid cooler onto the GPU without problem (like one can apparently do with the 1080) to tide myself over until the next Mainboard/CPU upgrade where I'm planning to go with a full liquid cooled setup. Some measurements for the distance between those holes around the GPU might be helpful as well, but just a same distance/not same distance would do. 🙂
I think you can re-use existing 980Ti or Titan X Hybrid AIO I've saw few threads over on OCN Hope this helps Thanks,Jura

Not getting rid of my 1080 sli setup anytime soon. For me, 2 x 1080 strix was actually cheaper than 1 titan x, mainly due to the fact of poor aussie dollar atm. Although 60fps 4K with single card makes it tempting. I have had a lot of trouble getting my card(s) to work properly in sli. All good now though.

And then you start reading those people trashtalking multi-GPU/CFX/SLI and just think to yourself those people probably never even touched a second GPU ... let alone went through the complete configuration and setup process of a SLI/CFX rig...

Yeah multi-GPU can be great when it works righ and most of the time you can get it to work perfectly just takes time. I think most people just don't want to spend the time with it and just say it's broken. Honestly I do see the appeal of single powerful GPU just for ease of use.

They are probably trash talking it because they don't want to go through a "complete configuration and setup process". I had both a 4870X2 and a GTX690. Both were terrible experiences. I'll never own SLI/Xfire again -- especially now where most modern engines have even worse scaling. Maybe when DX12 mGPU/Vulkan version comes out. Until then, not worth the hassle for me.

Why wait for a buzzword product like HBM2 when this card, and the other pascal cards proves that they can run fantastically without it.
I don't get it either. I like esoteric tech too, and would like HBM2 too. For example I love 512bit bus on my 290. But I prefer performance/price more! And in that department it seems that GDDR5X is a winner. Hell, it's usable in Titan X, so why would I want HBM2 in 1060/1080-class product. I mean I want it, but only if I don't have to pay for it :P
Hi have we ment me? i took me 3+ years to actually build my new pc I dont upgrade GPU till I have reason too, I would still be using my 9800GT if it didnt die,But when I do get around to buying I general want the latest tech, just not the lastest in stupidly high priced end

Denial; on the back of that, I think it'll take years before DX12/Vulkan mGPU will justify sli/xfire if we look at only those 2 api's. Infact, even after 3yrs, will there be enough of a back-catalogue to justify it? I think not tbh. Single-card will always be the better option and this will play out as "normal" users like us see TitanX (and better) performance in years to come. What we're also starting to see with these kind of cards is cpu-bottleneck. So, time for Intel to also step-up so these cards can be fully utilised.

About time a true 4k capable card hit the market, jeesh. 🙂

I hope 4k at higher fps, lets say 80-90fps!

Great review. One can notice that compared to 1060/70/80 which are very high clocked out of the box, with the Titan X there is a lot more OCing headroom. And the gains show... too bad it has that crappy cooler.

Since Volta is sheduled for 2108 i guess 1080Ti will be released next year to fill the gap between 1080 and TitanX.
Could that be what this last unknown GPU on page 6 is about then?
The GeForce GTX 1060 (GP104-400) has 10 x 128 shader processors makes a total of 1,280 shader processors. The GeForce GTX 1070 (GP104-200) has 15 x 128 shader processors makes a total of 1,920 shader processors. The GeForce GTX 1080 (GP104-400) has 20 x 128 shader processors makes a total of 2,560 shader processors. The Nvidia Titan X (GP102-400) has 28x 128 shader processors makes a total of 3,584 shader processors. The GeForce GTX TBA (GP102-400) has 30 x 128 shader processors makes a total of 3,840 shader processors.
Though as a higher-end model than even the Titan what would that be? Titan(X-2) Ti? :P

Yes, that helps. Thank you very much! 🙂

the temps too high the cooler is terrible for that money ,the blower coolers are awful i dont know why nvidia dont let the aftermarket guys put coolers on the titans asus titan X ROG or msi titan x lighting would be much better for $1200

Thanks for the review of this absurdity 🙂 Have some beers on the weekend!

Cheers guys, I am still editing and sifting out some small things.
Thanks for the review and gratz to 26k posts 🙂

Since Titan X has finally beaten 4K@60fps it's time to look at 4K@100fps since those kind of monitors exist today.

Thanks for the review. I would be tempted but I worry about Nvidia's driver support for this card in gaming. Nvidia's driver support has been a little flaky of late and I fear that this 'edge case' card wont get a lot of priority when it comes to fixing bugs.

Great review ! 4K on TW3 at 60fps is pretty neat. Can't wait for the 1080ti.

This card, is just a freaking beast, but no-where near the price i'll ever put into a GPU.

Thanks for the review Hilbert, thouroughly as always. I'm impressed with the 19xx MHz overclock... this chip will fly under water 😀
