I was hoping for higher FPS in comparison to the GTX1080 considering the asking price for the Titan X... but I guess this is what happens when there is no competition from AMD allowing Nvidia to charge kidneys and eyes. Anyways, nice review Hilbert!
Well with this kind of product line they kind of deserve that.

I might be alone on this but I dont see the price as worth it for 30 more fps or 15 on low end over 1080gtx, maybe ijust looking at wrong parts of the reviews
You're not alone in that, the money is not worth the extra FPS. As a gamer your money is better spend on say a 1060/1070 or RX 480. But it's an X-factor product, for the guys that build a Core i7 6950 with 64 GB memory and NVME SSDs, this product can and probably will make sense. The are in demand and as such that warrants it being marketed and sold. There's no shame in that or refusing to spend money on this. Other build and customize performance cars and spends thousands. Same thing, different category.

It's the card that often pushes the framerate much closer to 60 - from 1080's mid 40s to the high 50s, so it makes sense for those who want a smooth 4k experience without messing with SLI. While the price/perf is horrible, even more so than 1080, some people just have the money to spend. 1200$ isn't a *huge* amount of money all things considered.

Thanks for the hard work you put in Hilbert, another great review and another crazy Titan X. 😀

just say it for the people that have money to burn. i know such person they got sli titans just cause they had money to burn and they dont play any game that would even need that kind power. they just want to say they have it. I wish i had money to burn like those people :infinity:

Since Volta is sheduled for 2108 i guess 1080Ti will be released next year to fill the gap between 1080 and TitanX.
Damn that's a long wait :3eyes:

All i really want to know is WHEN is HB2 gona become standard on GPU... as much i want a 1060gtx i want HBM2 equipped gpu simily for the memory bandwidth

i really like those FCAT plots!

Looks like Pascal is the same great thing for Nvidia as Sandy Bridge was for Intel in performance. Though with Sandy Bridge we saw vastly lower prices too. Still two of these would be a proper upgrade for my rig. The X totally bitchslaps the 980ti, you typically don't see that much of an increase between just one generation apart. Want ? Yes. Need ? No, not yet.

I'd imagine these cards are mostly made to break just above even, but whatever small profit it makes does make for some good publicity to sell some 1060/1070 cards.

Thank you very much for the wonderful review Hilbert! What an amazing card, although the price is rather hefty (even though last year's Titan X cost about as much in my country as this new one does). Maybe if I could sell my current one and starve a couple of weeks I could scrape together enough to get one, haha. Do you know if the four corner mounting holes around the GPU for the heatsink are the same distance as the 1080 and Maxwell Titan X? I wonder if I could mount my EVGA Titan X 2015 (or 980Ti, 980, etc. since they are the same) Hybrid cooler onto the GPU without problem (like one can apparently do with the 1080) to tide myself over until the next Mainboard/CPU upgrade where I'm planning to go with a full liquid cooled setup. Some measurements for the distance between those holes around the GPU might be helpful as well, but just a same distance/not same distance would do. 🙂

Amazing card tbh. While we're all wide-eyed about the price...they've sold-out the first batch already. Obviously not meant for us "normal" gamers. There's guys out there enjoying this card right now and wow, what an experience. Fair-play to them tbh. Premium product for those who want the best single-card experience. Enjoy!

Price should come as no surprise as anything above a 1060 is already a poor value. The super car analogy is a bit silly, though. I doubt that I'll be able to buy a hyundai in the next 12-18 months that'll spank a 488 GTB around the track and consume less gas while looking every bit as stylish. Another thing is that 4K gaming on a single card seems to be an ever shifting goal post. Sure, 1200 dollars gets you close in today's titles but in 6-12 months you'll need to shell out again for Titan V. And that means that next gen's mid range cards won't be cutting it for current 4K gaming, again.

4K gaming is very demanding. There's no cheap way to do it unless you go sli and even then, it's not cheap. You're right that games will get more demanding. This shift happens across all graphics cards. Heck, devs could release games TODAY that would obsolete our entire gfx cards line-up, but, that really doesn't benefit anyone. Titan X performance will be next year's GTX XX80's performance for much less money.

well hello beasty 🙂.. and thank you Hilbert for the review.. posting 4 reviews in one day.. back to the new arrival..man those numbers..speechless..12 billion transistors 12GB of GDDR5X..just brilliant engineering to say the least 🤓 despite the fact that it is not meant for regular crowd with that price tag, but hey knowing it's out there is more than enough. hail the new king :infinity: and thank you Hilbert for time and effort and the fun read.

Great card and oc as suspected 1900mhz - 2000mhz.. temps not so much 84c+ auch.. this thing needs a custom cooler really bad 🤓

Monster does not properly grasp the performance of this card. Just think in three years we will have this level of performance at the $250-$300 price range.

Yes EVGA is apparently working on a hybrid replacement cooler.

Great review as always Hilbert , awesome read thank you. No doubt it's a beast of a card , 4K 60fps numbers looks alright to me but the very hefty price tag kind of puts me off 😏. Let see what Big Vega and 1080Ti can do at 4K , once i get a clearer picture of how those 3 products stack against each other i will make a well informed decision as i already have a 4K display and i'm only waiting for other options to hit the buy button. @The waiting game continues for me 😏...

Why wait for a buzzword product like HBM2 when this card, and the other pascal cards proves that they can run fantastically without it.

I don't get it either. I like esoteric tech too, and would like HBM2 too. For example I love 512bit bus on my 290. But I prefer performance/price more! And in that department it seems that GDDR5X is a winner. Hell, it's usable in Titan X, so why would I want HBM2 in 1060/1080-class product. I mean I want it, but only if I don't have to pay for it :P
