Owen yt was right on point when he said nvidia wants to move the bar with this gpu so the next gen x080 cards can cost 899$ or 999$. Its only purpose of this card. Incredibly cunning move.

Hm...another dumb AMD fanboy channel like MLID. Yes it's a cunning move to maximize profit from a finite number of chips produce. Basically just bin the crap outta the chips, 3080 12GB should have more working SM than the 10GB version, there is no reason to cut down working SM to make 3080 10GB at 700usd MSRP when you can sell the 12GB @ 900usd. Of course this would reduce 3080 10GB availability, however AIB already do this when they sell a very small amount of 3080 at MSRP and focusing on premium models, so just think of 3080 12GB as premium models. Nvidia can price the next 4050 at 700usd too if it compete with the current 3090 and it would be a best seller, naming has no meaning behind it beside segmentation.

Naming has no meaning? Than 3070 should be 1200$ mrsp becouse it competes with 2080ti lol. What a nonsense, its a 70 class card at its price point. If the 3080 msrp is 699$ and nvidia replace it with 899$ the next gen prices will reflect on that. You can clearly see what they are doing and only if you wear green glases you cant see shit.

Pricing depends on competition, Nvidia would love to price 3070 at 700usd and 3080 at 1200usd if there were no competition. SKU name however is just for segmentation, performance and competition will dictate the pricing. Let say AD106 can compete with GA102 and RDNA3 sucked, do people mind if Nvidia is selling AD106 (xx60 class) for 700usd, AD104 for 1200usd and AD102 for 2000usd?

They are sold out to miners already. Try back in 18 months.

My head is still spinning with the fact that Nvidia announced the 3080 in September of 2020 and is still pumping out new variants. Newly released CPU an GPU's with associated motherboards used to happen yearly if not sooner with noticeable performance upgrades each time. My wallet was always empty. The technology has peaked or plateaued, and I'm fine with that. My 5950x with 3090 are over a year old and still top of the line. This is what happens when competition is reduced to one or 2 players. I assume that the next generation has been cued up for quite some time. No use releasing it until demand for the previous generation has slowed.

Nice. Nothing better than new versions of GPUs that are super expensive that only miners buy them anyway...

At this point, these new cards are utterly pointless.

that's just silly. it all depends on what they're competing with. 1080ti to 2080ti was 699 to 999,because amd just let it happen. naming has nothing to do with anything,no matter how many youtube videos are produced.current 3080 is not even the usual 104 die but a higher 102.Exactly because of how good navi21 was.Not because of naming. If it was then you'd get a ga104,that is 3070/ti. and something that this silly youtuber apparently didn't notice is that 3080 already launched at $699.and it's not even a 104 die but a 102.3080 12g is more expensive cause it's a better bin with more memory. It has nothing to do with 40-series pricing.AMD cards will determine that. how dumb are the stories those channels spin to get clicks, really. use your brain man.

I'd kill for a 3090 at MSRP right now. What they are asking now is a joke. Closest Best Buy is 80 miles away from me and life dictates I can't be ready at a split second's notice to be able to get one online before a bot snipes it in seconds...at MSRP at least. Plenty of obscenely priced garbage out there.

The whole 'fanboy'/'brand loyalty' thing is as bizarre as it is common, its not just CPU/GPUs but pretty much everything in life, cars, shoes, people, banks, TV shows, everything and everywhere, and its human nature and ingrained deep within us, we all like familiarity and are willing to aggressively defend something be it a product, a person or an idea, even if we know its wrong. So if you get called a fanboy, its because you are in some way, shape or form, the the person who called you a fanboy is also one. 😉:D
