indeed waiting for the 1070 review to see how it scales out vs the 1080 before deciding which one I will throw my money on 😀 cant wait

Man that means most of the cards are probably going to be starting in the 4's plus the increased price because of initial demand. Gonna have to pass on that for a while unfortunately.

One step closer to the GTX 1060 reveal.

GTX 1070 SLI is gonna be great price to performance ratio with that 8gb vram its nice for sli

''2-way SLI with SLI HB bridge support'' - I like this as I thought only the 1080s were compatible, great news! 😀

So the 1070 is basically a 980 with 8gigs of vram.
Same ROPs, same TMUs -8 same sort of clocks around 1600mhz, same bus, same Cudas @2k-ish Same SMMs even.
Just has a slight lead in Wattage used but not by much.
Just guessing it will be half the price though.

Well at least Nvidia is not going down the same trail as they did with the 970 3.5gb+.5gb since the 1070 is very different than the 1080 since the 1080 has a new Vram architecture\technology with GDDR5x. I am going to have to see the benchmarks before making a purchase.

Wow. No 5k support with old sli bridges. Times are really changing. I'm glad I ditched my 3way sli early. I knew some weird changes were happening but I didn't see this coming.

I'm glad there's less hype with this card. Maybe, just maybe I will be able to afford it. Less than £400 please!!!

Sooo, GDDR5, so half the bandwidth of the 1080.

6.2 tflops at 1600mhz. This one will be slower then Titan X and 980ti even at 2ghz if those two are overclocked at all. Except in situations where there have been other improvements on the gpu.
Stock it is roughly pushing same performance as 1100 clocked 290x in terms of tflops and 980 @ 1500.
With way better efficiency of course.

From benchmarks, 1080 is roughly twice of 970 performance.
1070 should be faster than 980, but just below 980Ti.

Includes specifications and a few benchmarks.

While I am disappointed, I was expecting less cuts than this.
But, each CUDA core 'should' be faster than the previous generation, so it's hard to make a direct comparison.
Even though, as others have pointed out, on paper it looks similar to the 980, it just may be as fast as the 980Ti thanks to the improved architecture (we don't claim the 6700k is the same as the 3770k because they are both quad cores right?)
Obviously I'm being optimistic, I really had my eyes on this card. But, you will certainly see me waiting until some concrete benchmarks come out before*if I make my purchase.
Though thanks to Gsync, I'm kinda locked in... unless the 1070 is so bad that I need to save up for the 1080 lol. Which I would do, very very reluctantly and rather anger-ly. *crosses fingers for 1070 being as fast as 980Ti.

I think reference 1070s will be the same a 980 G1 @1400Mhz and the G1 type 1070 will be closer or match Reference Ti.
So say you could get 2-300mhz more out of a 980 G1 @ 1700mhz/8000mhz and i bet thats where 1070 will sit. Maybe improvements to drivers will see it matching Ti but i think only high overclocked ones will outperform it.
