happens only with GFE installed, for games that are "supported" by it, the settings telemetry hangs in the service.

^ Happened to me and Ive never even considered installing GFE.

I'm probably a lucky guy, I don't have this kind of problem

Good to know, I thought my CPU fans were kicking in (and staying on) at strange times. That explains it.

GFE installed here, and no issue.

Its not a big deal if you delete the dll.

Now I feel vindicated I never install gfe just the drivers :P

This happened to me and I run barebone drivers only. I used DDU and it went.

unfortunately , bug happens also without GFE 🙁 I ve never installed GFE and I have the bug but since I deleted the faulty dll (we discussed the solution on the thread of 531.18 ) , no problem with 531.18

I used clean install from 512.94 and it's ok, no net access for nvcontainer or extra telemetry and no gfe.

Apparently using a gaming PC means buying and using nothing on day1.

All normal for me using GFE and never do a clean install.

It can happen without it. I currently don't have GFE installed and I saw the nVidia container running in the background while I had nothing open taking 8-10%+ of the CPU.

Cannot confirm the issue on a system that has never had gfe installed. and the systems i looked at that did were pretty obvious in what their stack behavior was showing.

i'll keep trying to provoke it without gfe then, this sort of thing tickles my neurosis.

Happening to me too and I don't have GFE installed, noticed nvidia container using upwards of 15 to 20% CPU usage, rolling back for now.

Really? I don't want to roll back. Just delete the nvidia container *.dll? No issues?

Do the "Clean" version of these drivers in the Forum remove this issue? I know they remove telemetry, right?

No, they just help you not install crap you don't want/need.
