Not well!! Reasons of GPU damaged for notebook: - Overclock easily damages GPU due to the space too bit or to the lack of space and to the mini-fan; - Maximum GPU tempurature exceeded (eg: case is 100% closed, summer...); - Overvoltage; ...
In ten years i haven't damaged a single chip just by adjusting oscillation frequency. To make frequency stable usually you have to over-voltage. There are safe spots. Cooling is a must! If you pushing your hardware, because TDP change really fast. So i don't really understand what are you trying to prove here.

For tournaments people bring an SSD with fresh install with their drivers/game settings so you dont have to bother when playing on other pc. Anyway playing games on laptop is forbidden if you can't afford a cooling pad. Ofc you can force it but seriusly hitting keyboard 80-100*C is kinda idiotic 😀
Your computer hardware has to be the same or atleast similar, if you are using your disk on other computer. I saw people who use external keyboard to avoid burning their fingers ;D And yeah...it's better to avoid buying gaming laptops, unless you don't have an option.

Well This is good news. The reason why I want a gaming laptop is so I can have a decent Portable PC and being able to play my games at my cousin's place. I also agree that is is the user's choice if they want to OC their laptop's GPU let them. There are some gaming Laptop manufacturers that offer OCed Cpus out of the box or you can OC it if ya want to.

All these people saying 'you can't game on a laptop' - go look at 1080p benchmarks for the 980M and 970M. My 970M can run the original Crysis at 1080p at 55FPS average. A 10% overclock (perfectly possible, I'd expect 15%) would hit the desirable 60FPS average. As for any UT3 based game, it munches them.

And the whole melt your laptop thing. No, no it won't, if temperatures get too high (which any good gaming laptop will not) it throttles or turns off.

It's not so much that you can't, it's more that it's kind of counter-productive. The purpose of a laptop is to be portable. Having a beefy CPU and GPU in a laptop means it has to down-throttle the performance to maintain battery life, thermals, and physical size. That means you're losing the performance you paid for. If the battery life doesn't matter to you, then that's 1 major feature that makes your laptop significantly less portable. If the thermals don't matter to you and you decide to put the laptop on a desk with an external keyboard/mouse, that's significantly less portable. If having a decent battery and/or thermals matter to you, the laptop will be bulky and heavy - being less portable. Also in many cases, what you get is what you're stuck with. You can't easily, if at all, upgrade a laptop in a way that will get better FPS in games. Sometimes all you need is a better GPU but you can't get one if it's soldered to the motherboard. If you want a decent gaming system that you can bring to a friend's house, get a mini ITX build with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Some ITX cases have handle bars. If your friend can't supply a display, get a cheap laptop and stream to that instead. At least then the cheap laptop can be used for other means in a way that gives great portability.

If people want to to melt there poorly cooled and designed laptops/ultrabook THAT ARE NOT DESIGNED to be OC to begin let them. and yes there all poorly designed when it comes to cooling. Unless you payed arm and leg and even then i find them poorly cooled, Sure you can get gaming laptop, that could play those game , but there not designed to take the heat that is produced. I lost count how many laptops/notebooks etc i seen come in with shuting down issue due to heat issue, and they where not used for gaming, and they ranging from 200~3000+ $ laptops, they are not built to take the heat and people want to OC them let them i like have laugh at those people expense

Yeha except the problem is those people complain to the OEM's who then go and complain to Nvidia that their chips are causing failures. Which is why Nvidia probably stopped the OC'ing to begin with.

IMHO a Gaming Laptop is still an oxymoron... But some people travel a lot and its their only choice to play games in the hotel in the evening... In that scenario higher noise, additional fans, and cardboard air tunnels are not a problem 🙂

yes but the end people dont care they just want there ability to oc, even if it want ment to be oc'ed which no laptop/notebook is ment to be, Nvidia had there reasons and they where good reason but people dont care. they will just whine case and point look at what happen.

Most them have 1 fan at best, and even with 2 heat dispersion will be terrible and it will run hot And will most likey have heat issue,

I see your wealth of facts and external sources to back up what you're saying has convinced me. My laptop is melting and cannot handle the stress, it's not able to play games either, when I do try to play games it has heat issues and catches fire. Honestly, I should just give up and get a desktop eh? What I think you're mistaking is high end products and people not maintaining expensive laptops.

Apart from the fact that I've got an 87% overclock on the core, and a 64% overclock on the VRAM and the temps on my GPU don't go over 69 degC. I guess that's a laptop that can overclock! Been running it like that since Summer 2013, no issues. I'm pleased Nvidia brought back overclocking. There's hardly any danger in overclocking as long as voltage is not increased, because the GPU's are designed to throttle when they get to dangerous temperatures or to prevent them exceeding TDP.

That is where we differ, 69c for gpu is to hot imo for desktop gpu, forget it for laptop. normal temps for cpu for that mater on laptops are general alot hot hotter then desktop cpu too, which imo to hot. i dont want that kind heat in a small form system. None of the mater though 90% of all laptops are not ment to be OC simply cause the lack of cooling. nvidia had there reason for doing what they did

Hah, the clockdown temp on FX5700 Go was in the beginning 135C, later lowered to 125C on Nvidia drivers. No wonder mine did terminate the contract after 11 months - my OC results with 5700 go are probably still the highest on 3DMark.com.

Yes, like the guy above says, you're talking rubbish there. Temperatures in the 60's & 70's are good for CPUs & GPUs, even the 80's are ok; hell, even AMD's latest reference offerings in the GPU world are DESIGNED to have permanent operating temps in the 90's! I'd generally want to stay away from temperatures in the mid 80's and 90's though.
