On pace for the 4080 to sell for $1,499 retail before 3rd party prices get into the mix. Is all this money worth having a bit sharper resolution and a few better textures vs current consoles? The difference between pc and console compared to the old days ...the lines are so blurred and differences so minimal. You need to watch DF videos on youtube in slow motion magnified 3x to see differences. That's what I don't get. If this was 2003 and you actually had AAA Pc exclusives and they looked more advanced to console, in the way Half-Life 2 or FarCry did on pc vs. anything on PS2 or original xbox, cool. Still crazy pricing, but I'd understand the hype a little bit more. The differences are negligible these days to spend this kind of money and waste so much time monitoring sites and signing up to discords and forums for tip offs on stock replenishes. Just my opinion. You could have a PS5, XSX and OLED switch with about $1,300 to spare for the price of one 3090 ti.

Don't think the cards is ok. Even in a normal market this would be substantially more expensive than a normal 3090 while likely performing within 5% of the 3090.
People will need to start asking more for their kidney or else it will soon require two to buy a GPU 😉

Pretty much same price as 6900xt. Noone want to buy 6900xt here in Norway. It's been in stock for months.... People buy 3090 before 6900xt, even the price is 6 to 8000 NOK more 😛

If you think about it, people buying these gpu's don't really care about how much they are spending as both these products make no sense.
With that said, say your after the high end product regardless of cost, then you would naturally go for the one with more features. the 6900xt for example makes zero sense, the 3090 just has way more features, vram/etc.

No matter how high or good, technology will fade off after new batch launch.
4-5k dollar for a GPU is not insane but will it last me 10 or 20 years down the road?

I mined quite a bit on my RX6800 , but after half i year looking what is happening in GPU prices i decided to give it a breath. I got half of it's price in ETH during 6m of mining . Not bad 🙂
