Bring it,my wallet is ready for big Pascal!

What happened to the ARM CPU that was gonna be included on the PCB somewhere? It was initially supposed to be on Maxwell, but then if my memory serves me right it was pushed back to be included on Pascal, or was it Volta?

so this is a 100% rumor right?

Same here, can't wait to replace my 680. Will be such a huge leap in performance for me.

q1 2016... yeah, no reason to get a Maxwell chip. Im deffo waiting till NeXT year.

hum , it s very short between 980 Ti and new gpu 16 nm. I don't expect a release of Pascal before mid 2016.

Nice to see, but the first thing even remotely interesting for me will be Volta. 😉

This. Anyone know?

not incredibly psyched unless they bring an out of this world performance boost to gaming -- the estimated 10x speed boost to deep learning training isn't very interesting to me. will probably hold on to my cards until volta.

Yeah. I've still not seen anything that was a "must upgrade" performance requirement from anything I'm playing, even at 2560x1440, hell the 680 ate GTA5 just fine... I just don't want to upgrade till I can get at least 100% better performance across the board at less cost than the 680 was. The 980Ti seems to fill in the first bit, but at more than 50% extra price compared to the 680, which just turned 3 years old, I can't justify the purchase.

erm pretty sure a 980Ti doubles the performance of your 680 at 1440p. So 100% performace increase for 50% more cost seems OK to me!?

Yeah honestly you should just either upgrade to the 980 Ti now or wait for a sale on it. You won't really save much waiting..

Mind you, even if the 980Ti is out now, don't expect a Pascal Ti to be around for another year... and that's the usual schedule. So besides a few months, we all know when stuff is going to be around, and there's always the next best thing 'around the corner'.

If you go back and look at the rumors surrounding this, nvidia never once mention it being a traditional desktop GPU, everyone just inferred that. They just said they were looking to pair a ARM chip with a Maxwell architecture. They ended up doing it with both Kepler/Maxwell in the form of the K1 and X1. There is literally zero reason to put a ARM chip on a desktop GPU.

This hasn't stopped them before, I don't see why it would now. Especially because Nvidia is not just targeting games/gamers with their architectures anymore.

In another thread, concerning MSI's 980 line-up, I stated that, since the DX12 is "around the corner" it is waste of money to buy any 9xx right now, if we already own a 6xx or 7xx series gaming model, since all of them DO NOT fully comply to the upcoming version of DX. You buy 980 today and in a few months NV will "proudly announce the first DX12 fully compatible card" etc. etc. ...

Yeah that's not true at all. Currently GCN/Maxwell are more than capable of handling everything anyone would need with DX12. Out of like thousands of new features two partial incompatibilities is nothing. Especially when no game is going to be utilizing them anytime soon. I should also point out that you bought a 770 despite the fact that it's not fully DX11.1 compatible either.

... really? You got a Titan X in SLI, why would you possibly want to upgrade that in the next 3 years? (feel free to donate me money if you got too much)

the (depressing) reality of things is that even these cards can't push a steady 60fps @ max details in 4k for some of the games that are already out there

I will probably wait for Turbo Pascal 😉
