I really want to buy a GTX970 now but I think I can hold on until next year. Windows 10 may give some extra boost in our current gen cards anyways.

the (depressing) reality of things is that even these cards can't push a steady 60fps @ max details in 4k for some of the games that are already out there
Who really wants to push 4k? I don't care about 4k. 25x14 is the perfect Res for gaming and all this none sense about 4k annoys me since it's over rated. It's just a way for the tech industry to push out unneeded products. They are already making 8k TV's but i have no idea why. I doubt you could even stream 8k in full quality in most parts of the world.

4K is significantly better than QHD and definitely not over-rated. This is coming from someone with a QHD monitor.

I get complaints about 'over priced' tech (AKA early adopters buyers remorse). I don't get complaints about tech advancing. Particularly on an enthusiast forum.

If you can't see a difference between 1440 and 4k at really any size beyond a phone/tablet, then you should have your eyes checked, the difference is apparent. Rarely, at 4k, does a game require any AA. It's really quite excellent.

4k might be "overrated" now because you have to choose 144hz or 4k. But soon when pascal is out and maybe screens etc get better we can have both. Just imagine that 4k @ stable 144hz
