I am curious to see if this card is going to be gimped because of the inability to Overclock it if those rumors are true that is. Because if it is then it's not worth picking up depending if an overclocked Vega 56 chip can out perform it.

Im a little confused by this locked frequency situation. If you look at the ASUS card specs (http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/asus-announces-geforce-gtx-1070-ti-series-gaming-graphics-cards.html) they have an oclock boost mode built in???

They should've lowered the price of the 1070 and 1060 to make space in the lineup. At this price one may as well spend a little more on the 1080.

It's either a secondary BIOS or a software button called OC mode.

hmm this seem evga set up seem to have 1070 ti sc listed now, maybe I will splurge for it if the reviews show performance worth it

According to an Nvidia rep, it is overclockable. Link. Tbh, given its close price proximity, the 1080 would be a better deal than both the 1070ti and vega 56.
