It's not like they have any other choices

Yeah, start the jokes about 60fps at 1080.......but I'm playing BF5 with a Zotac 2080ti Amp at 3440 x 1440 on a Predator G-Sync monitor on ULTRA....yes, ULTRA! Smooth as butter...yes, the card was stupidly expensive and my butt hasn't un-clenched yet....but still, the experience is pretty much what I thought it would be. Glad I waited a little bit, and bought a Channel Partner card...NOT FE!!!....My only complaint is the limited single player portion of BF5....can't wait until Atomic Heart comes out....

The joke is not a joke, try rtx on then brag how you play on ultra at ultra wide monitor.

Hilarious, watched a review where it was hardly hitting 40fps with rtx on at 59hz. Granted its poineering tech but lets face it it's never going to hit 144fps with the current gen. At this point RTX is a failure.

The rtx comments are getting spam like and tiresome. Off topic too.

Pretty much as expected. BFV was one of the main titles for RTX and is the only game that currently supports it. Of course the irony is that most would prefer to play without RTX for higher frame rates.
How is it off topic? The RTX connection is apparent to just about anyone (it's no accident that this game was chosen for the bundle).

RXT is not competitive because of the fps ... I made some games now and I killed a lot more than I died. In COD black4 they were playing on 20 Hz servers that actually meant 20 fps and no one complained. When I got to know this, I learned why I liked Beta and found the final game to be horrible.

One of the optimisations that is built into the BVHs are our use of “overlapped” compute - multiple compute shaders running in parallel. This is not the same thing as async compute or simultaneous compute. It just means you can run multiple compute shaders in parallel. However, there is an implicit barrier injected by the driver that prevents these shaders running in parallel when we record our command lists in parallel for BVH building. This will be fixed in the future and we can expect quite a bit of performance here since it removes sync points and wait-for-idles on the GPU.
We also plan on running BVH building using simultaneous compute during the G-Buffer generation phase, allowing ray tracing to start much earlier in the frame, and the G-Buffer pass. Nsight traces shows that this can be a big benefit. This will be done in the future.
Another optimisation we have in the pipe and that almost made launch was a hybrid ray trace/ray march system. This hybrid ray marcher creates a mip map on the entire depth buffer using a MIN filter. This means that every level takes the closest depth in 2x2 regions and keeps going all the way to the lowest mip map. Because this uses a so-called min filter, you know you can skip an entire region on the screen while traversing.
With this, ray binning then accelerates the hybrid ray traverser tremendously because rays are fetched from the same pixels down the same mip map thereby having super efficient cache utilisation. If your ray gets stuck behind objects as you find in classic screen-space reflections, this system then promotes the ray to become a ray trace/world space ray and continue from the failure point. We also get quality wins here as decals and grass strands will now be in reflections.
We have optimised the denoiser as well so it runs faster and we are also working on optimisations for our compute passes and filters that run throughout the ray tracing implementation.
There are some pretty large optimizations coming down the pipe for RTX in BF5.

It makes me laugh how most of the people complaining have no intention of buying a RTX gpu at all.
Yup, the fps is low for now.
But that kind of tech, At home, on my gpu is fucking awesome in terms of the stuff we have access to now.
This is the first step, No it will not be perfect. Yes, its pricey. But thats the way tech is, especially if you are one of those that buys into the first waves of a new feature.
People need to just chill, Calm with the same comment over and over, its like a PS4 vs Xbox argument sometimes. I didn't realize pc enthusiasts got so bitchy

Interesting thing to see an NV supported title offered in which AMD cards outperform their NV counterparts (RX 570-GTX 1060 3GB, RX 580 -GTX 1060 6GB, Vega 56- 1070, even the 1070Ti, Vega 64- 1080, on par with 2070).
Wut? The 1080Ti was maybe 1000$ in the mining craze, nowhere near that price normally.
The 2080Ti is not slow. It is expensive as fu.. A nearly bigger performance jump in the 780Ti-980Ti era meant the 980Ti was cheaper than the 780Ti MSRP. Now you get a little lower performance jump for +300$ (+400 or 500$ in reality).
You have one game that released the, where the 1100-1200$ card produces not even fix 60 fps in FHD with RT. The other (SotTR) will produce 30ish fps in given locations. FF XV RT support development was cancelled. So what acces are you talking about? Watching demos? Why can't you accept the fact that you were milked by NV?
If you payed 800$ for the 2080 you were also robbed, sorry.
So you bought the 2080Ti because you were happy with the 30% performance increase for 400-500$ extra dollars? LOL
Congrats for achieving it for 1100-1200$. Thumbs up for you, lol.
