And the NSA activities have what to do with something separate entirely? What, you think they're going to actively watch people's chatlogs and be able to send out a swat team minutes before an abduction to stop it? Assuming the case of an online predator, it's not like the victim's pc wouldn't have a ton of chatlogs and web cache to be recovered from the hard drive. And it's not like they don't have other measures in place for this type of stuff.

Don't believe everything you see or hear. No country is a saint, they all do exactly the same the US does, just on a smaller scale. It's all about power and, who has the most of it. China and Russia are in a massive power struggle with the US to see who comes out top dog.

Anything. E.g given my kid gets lost in the mall or even worse, TAKEN. I would give ANYTHING to had a tracking device on it or something. A watch, a phone, a chip(too scifi?). Anything. Or a teenager gets lost/abducted or about to be raped and doesn't answer calls, and the police manages to track down the teenager just before something happens. Does it really have to happen to someone before people know it feels and take precautions and wish for a better/safer or at least a bit more controlled world? I'm not talking iRobot or Demolition Man like control, but something better/safer at least. I get way to worked up over this things. I hope you get my point. I meant it in a good way.

I was just making an off topic comment just to prove a point on that NSA thing. And even that point wasn't 100% totally related to the NSA article in the OP. P.S: And I agree on a few thoughts, like Information IS INDEED power, the harsh reality check that we are just helpless bags of bones just killing this planet and each other and a few others. 😉

Do people really want a 911 again? A bombing, a mass killing? There will always be very bad people trying to do very bad things. They were always around and they will be around for quite a while. It's in the human nature unfortunately.

Right, 911 terrorists used facebook event and google docs to plan their attack. Of course I won't bother to protect agaist NSA, but they spend lots of money. If you don't bother about your taxes being used that way, its your problem.
