MS is there own worse enemy, No win8 or 8.1 for me then. But i see they are still going strong with their back tracking and reversing what they say every few months. I will upgrade when at the very lest I have my startmenu (no i am not restoring to 3rd party to fix this cause it didnt need to be removed to begin just option to have it or not have it) I use my start menu every damn day countless times. Would love to ability to disable metro too as i dont like it dont want it. I really dont under stand why MS cant just give the option to use it not use when they been giving the option to use Classic windows shell and aero shell since vista and classic shell and new shell since xp. Some people like the idea of there PC looking like smart phone/laptop OS I do not.

Win 8 does have improved file copying and task manager menus. You just have to pop the windows key from your keyboard and everything is fine.

At this point this is more hilarious than it is disappointing tbh. I'll wait until Windows 9 for Microsoft to come around then. I was going to pull the trigger on 8 when I heard Start menu would be back too, oh well.

Yes, Classic Shell. Works great. and ive never used the metro menu ever since.

I don't miss the start button at all... I got used to Metro, sliding my cursor and having almost everything on the bar that pops, and if not, the search is there and it actually works perfectly. Sometimes I even go in actual Metro where I have weather and other small utility apps, so yeah... I'm good without it. 🙂

personally, i like the big tiles i can have with oblytile and the livetiles are convenient too. that goofy old granny pants start menu was small and dumb and boring. come to think of it, i never liked it. i used litestep for a long long time.. win98 even, to get RID of that boring crap. i wish you could do more with the start screen and have it more animated and such but im content with it for now.

That means i'm will be skipping Win 8 completely since by then Win 9 which hopefully is a proper Windows like 7 again. Sorry MS, no money from me untill then 🙂 (also Norton Ghost 15 doesn't work with Windows 8, another reason to stick with 7)

This is disappointing to hear...MS needs to figure it out - PC users do NOT want some weird "metro" UI. I've gotten used to it, but I want a true start menu back...they act like it's a daunting task to integrate something EVERY previous iteration had.

Not "every" previous iteration had a start menu. Windows1.x, Windows2.x, and Windows3.x lacked a start menu. It didn't come into existance until Windows4.x (Win95, 98, 98se, ME).

I've hated the "start menu" since 1995.... It was never efficient in the least...
Now that I started working month a go I can feel the pain of start menu it is just horrible and counter intuitive. (that damn windows 7 uh oh and even worse virtual windows xp) Cause of course development tools aren't fully functional in w7 yet -.- To me this is good news actually that no start menu for w8.
