The only real use I see for this is handheld gaming other than that it is the most unimpressive console imo.

i bet zelda, donkeykong and the rest will joining the band to smartphone apps
looking at how nintendo shares jump after it released
then they pricing close to PS4 that give far-better graphic as console / media center
well we will see, how it perform...
at this point i seeing wii u sales-pattern instead nds or wii pattern
i am thinking it will sell like hot cakes if they can push price down to around $199~$249

The pricing for everything on it is crazy. On the other hand it is made by two of the greediest tech companies around. Still, they either don't have enough of them, or they got greedy after the initial positive reception. The dock costs $99 and a set of controllers costs $79, which is ridiculous.

At least you get everything you need to use it in the box, aside from that funky controller jiggy. Price isn't *too* bad, given the release prices of the PS4 and XBone and the lack of region locking is nice. Probably not for me, though waiting on Ace Combat 7 being released before deciding whether or not to get a PS4 (Pro, maybe).

However, it is expensive. I thought PS Vita games were expensive, but, it seems Nintendo are adding another £10-20 more.
I think they're in for another 3DS/Wii U situation, then, after taking the initial hyped-up prices money, they will announce a price drop and free games to compensate early adopters.
People love deja vu.
It's seems everything has been deliberately made to be expensive just so they can do the "consumer winning" price-cut thing. Then, they're going to tell us that they "listen to their customers". 🤓

So what the hell is the dock? If all the hardware is contained in the handheld part...is the dock basically just a charger?

A break out box basically. Taking the USB c to a hdmi, charging pass through and USB ports on it.

on other hand no PS4 or XBone can compete with Zelda and Mario...
the Wii were the most weak console of it's gen but still a success... (ok Wii U is another story... lol).

That's what makes Nintendo unique really. They're the Disney of gaming. I'm also looking forward to Donkey Kong and F-Zero.
As for Wii U, there's Nintendo games that have sales numbers that even AAA titles struggle to sell on the other 3 platforms.

Mario Kart 8 has sold more than Forza Motorsport 4, 5 and 6 combined (and could potential do it all over again).
Super Smash Bros out-sold total sales for standard Street Fighter 4. That's big.

mario and zelda are not names that will make me buy nintendo console again.
Nintendo hay day when they ruled the console world is long gone, the longer i wait the longer I think Nintendo will not reclaim that throne they had back with NES/SNES.
