$2000 for IPS UHD HDR? Sound like Dell wants to :banana: their customers. Something definitely isn't right when a 27" IPS costs more than a 55" UHD OLED.

Yes something is wrong is PC monitors the last years. A simple QHD IPS 60hz monitor with no extra features still costs around 500-600 euros. Then we wonder why the 97% of users are still on 1080p. HDR maybe is new tech and they somehow can justify those ridiculous prices but something is really wrong when they sell QHD 60hz at around 500 and 600 euros.

one of the best non-pro screens in 32", 1440p/10bit, 12bit lookup, 100% srgb, flicker free, from asus/benq goes for 500 or less.

Amazing how the latest fad, HDR, which will cost the manufacturers pennies to implement on these panels, ends up adding hundreds and hundreds of $,£ and € on to the price.
Anyone would think these people are seeing you coming with your lack of self control and credit cards... 🙄

Yes but 1 butterfly doesn't bring Spring. The majority of monitors are too expensive for what they are.
They still find ways to overprice crap TN panels what do you expect. HDR is new and they will rip those who can afford it.

The UP2718Q is the TOP dog, but there will be also the U2718Q for $700.00 and the U2518D for $600.00

Screens really don't seem to follow normal technology advancement procedures. Instead of something better coming each year or two in the same price range the old screens stay at the same price and hundreds of dollars are added to the new ones. It doesn't help that the dollar has gone up 50-60% as well. HDR TVs aren't necessarily expensive at all, so it seems weird that monitors should suddenly become much more expensive just for adding it.

This is obviously not a gaming monitor so G-sync is an unnecessary expense.
This would be a professional monitor tailored to accurate color reproduction.

Some would argue that at this point the only joke is Gsync itself, and NVIDIA not supporting an open standard.

Yea i read that, but at that price you'd expect it to have it considering Asus and Acer upcoming HDR monitors have it and are also rumored to be at the 2000$ mark. (At least that's what crossed my mind when i saw the price).
But i guess that's why it might see a price drop. When those hit the market this will drop in price.

Freesync is that big of a difference vs not having it. I missed it like hell when I had a GTX 970 for a few weeks after I had to sell my fury X. I sold that 970 for a 290x just so I could have freesync again.
Its like the damn days where you had to buy either a crossfire board or sli board. And that dictated what gpus you also ran if you were doing multigpu.:puke2:
Thats why I bought my X79. Ive ran GTX 670 sli, GTX 970 sli, R9 290x crossfire on this same board. And ran even more dual setups when I had my Gigabyte X58.
I do agree monitors feel like they are super exspensive again. I remember when a 24 inch 1680x1050 60hz TN panel was $900.
I lucked out and got my 29 inch ultrwide freesync for $330. It was normally $699. The gysnc version, exactly the same specs, was $900. Was still limited to 75hz. I even have my freesync working 30-80hz.

At least we are finally seeing FALD LED monitors as its been a long time coming. At $2000 this is way over priced for a 27" screen but I'm sure that will come down a lot.
This is also more of a professional monitor so will be nice to see a gaming oriented monitor from Dell much like the new Asus PG27UQ.

I was thinking it was going to be expensive when I saw it had 384-dimming zones. Most so called HDR consumer TVs have way, way less dimming zones or even are only edge-lit dimming which is why they are much cheaper to make.
This sounds to me more like a professional reference video monitor for 4k HDR video editing and production. It is not a stupid gaming monitor for 144hz muppets.

The PG27UQ has 384 dimming zones, REC2020, DCI-P3 support, 144Hz, G-Sync, IPS (It's literally the same AU Optronics panel as this one is) and it's also $2000. The only difference is in calibration.
