It’s like they want to lose subscribers. Incredible.

Sharing is caring.

I'm only keeping my subcriptions because I share it with family members LOL, I don't watch wokeflix anymore...

I find it odd how so many people think that stealing from Netflix should be considered a normal thing to do.

I barely use netflix as is, and share my 4k netflix account with the family (as in mother and sibblings, and no we dont live together)... sounds like i will be cancelling my netflix account.

Sounds like Netflix is hammering nails into its own coffin. This is exactly how you lose customers and point them in the direction of piracy. The whole allure with streaming services was supposed to be so that you could watch whatever shows you want wherever you want, for a reasonable price. Convenience is key. If they take those aspects away then nobody will pay them at all.

And I am certain the ones that where leeching after the ban ... They will ALL subscribe to Netflix and not just fire up streameo . This would totally not result in loosing the paying customer forever as well ...
@RealNC I just stole from you ! Free the heads ! Viva la revolution!

I think the idea that Piracy will replace password sharing is flawed, password sharing is a 1/10 difficulty with lots of benefits (All devices, no storage issues etc).
To move to piracy people would either have to find websites that stream (dodgy looking) then wait for the inevitable 6 popup adds (gross)
or
Start torrenting (scary and not available on all devices right away)
I think that they'll get a big hit short term but overall work out in their favor (assuming they can get some good draw shows)
Remember most people aren't on IT related forums for a good portion of their day and they WILL pay for convivence.

We have come full circle, back to the same system as cable TV.
Piracy had been reduced a lot during the last decade, but these companies are so greedy, they'll just reinvigorate the piracy scene once again.

I wish Netflix the best in trying to lose subscribers and kill itself, but I won't hold out hope for an early death 🙁.
If anyone would want to waste the space on the garbage that Netflix creates.

UK government saying Netflix password sharing is against the law, so technically how can they offer pay extra for account sharing, when it's deemed illegal.

I only share it with my brother (my wife doesn't count obviously), I barely use it (lack of time and good shows) my brother too. So if they go ahead with this they will just lose money. Strange times. Lol

If Netflix allowed your account to be shared infinitely, this would be a sensible move. If Netflix were barely scraping by financially, this would make sense as a drastic measure to reduce operation costs. But, with a maximum of only 4 shared devices on their most expensive plan, how much money do they honestly think they're losing from unauthrorized shared accounts? They're still making billions in net revenue, so surely this isn't to reduce operation costs. People who pirate content or use shared accounts are never the kind of people who will pay for their subscription, so if they're hoping this will encourage more sales, it won't. All this is doing is punishing honest customers who want to stream while they travel, or at the very least, encourage the use of VPNs.
Also, how is this supposed to work if, for example, you have 2 people in the same household but one is on wifi and the other is using mobile broadband? And what about college dorms where everyone might be connected to the same network? These are situations that contradict Netflix's intentions.
Anyway, if they were to allow 2 different locations at a time, that I think would be more palatable, since that could imply one for at home and the other for travelling. Still seems highly unnecessary though.
Alternatively, they could just simply make the plan cheaper and only have 1 usable device at a time, that can be used anywhere.
In the end, I don't care. I don't pay for any leisure subscription services, I never have, and I don't see that changing any time soon.

I guess it was inevitable. Shareholders gotta get their dough after all.

Netflix have their eyes set on this imaginary account sharing boogeyman that they suffer losses, instead its people leaving the service because other services caught up with their content and their own content has been sucking major balls lately.
