That's Yennefer and? Merigold? Didn't she have reddish hair? She looks too old for Cirri and no scar.
It is Ciri with white hair. In the books, Triss is brown hair and as I far as I remember Ciri and Gerald have no scar on their face.

I can't judge a whole show based on a few pictures, but hopefully they won't turn it into another generic Netflix original.

Well, I had hopes for this show when it was first announced. All that swiftly went away when it was getting obvious that the SJW agenda was what mattered most to the writers/showrunners. I agree that most actors are miss casts and will make the show look really awkward. I kind of feel bad for Henry Cavill, as I like him, and I do think he makes a decent Geralt (at least from these pics) and is a gamer himself. I know the show will be about the books (read them all), but it matters that he can relate to the "expanded" universe of the Witcher games as well. Also, to note that the Andrzej Sapkowski envisioned Geralt as played by Kevin Costner way back, not that Henry is a look-alike, but yeah, he's not that far off. Either way, very, very low expectations for this from me, but of course, I would be GLAD to be proven wrong, and the show turn out not half bad after all.

Just followed the drama (mostly in 2018) around some of Lauren S. Hissrich's tweets (she even suspended her account at some point), the VERY questionable choice of casting actors and the huge backlash after they initially wanted Ciri to be a "BAME" (I had to google that too) and overall Netflix' way of killing their best shows to "make a point" (see House of Cards), or outright cancel them just like that (Marvel ones).

I don't like it. The vibe i get from does photos is not what it should. This is coming from someone who read the books and played all the games. The games interpretation was freaking awesome, i mean compare: this: https://bookstr.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/thewitcher.jpg to this: https://imagesvc.timeincapp.com/v3/fan/image?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwinteriscoming.net%2Ffiles%2F2019%2F07%2FHenry-Cavill-as-Geralt-of-Rivia-Official.jpg&c=sc&w=736&h=485 Really? No eyes, beard, scars...and that armor..what is that?. Nope does not look good at all.

Sadly I am sure they are going to makes changes to attract the general populous (Non-Gamer).

Idk I think it looks fine. It's based on the books - they had to make some character choices but whatever. I'm just glad it's being made and hope it's good. Everyone expecting a 1:1 copy to the game and/or books is just looking for disappointment.

That was a weird one. Glad they changed their minds. I found a post of hers where she says she intends to stay true to all characters ethnic makeup. It seems that ad is the only mention of a "bame" Ciri, so maybe there was a fuck up. And yeah I've never heard of this expression either. This show could easily turn out crap but I'll give them benefit of the doubt for now. And I don't really care what their politics are. I have no idea what Stephen King's politics are either but I enjoyed his book on time travel and saving JFK immensely despite it. She's also posted a few more character photos missing from Hilbert's post. GERALT IS: Stoic. Circumspect. Balanced. Fierce. Well, if Netflix could cast Peter Dinklage as Zoltan Chivay.. Wishful thinking: Vesemir -Liam Neeson Dandelion - James McAvoy Ciri- Emilia Ckarke Yennifer- Rose Leslie Triss Merigold : Daniela Amavia

Fox2232:

All Tolkien's books are softcore. You may not feel like that, but they are softcore for fantasy books. Same way as King's "Horrors" are softcore in comparison to likes of Clive Barker. It is similar to comparing contemporary authors to Emile Zola who wrote about similar things, but were not Naturalists.
I like it just fine. But saying that a target audience is children when that is in fact not true is quite a different matter. Also, please don't start a discussion about something then change your tune to suit your argument. Softcore if you like, which is fine by me. Nothing wrong with Tolkien, nor are his books all written for children, which is what you said. I simply stated that was not true.

Fk this sounds like Geralt beeing gay and making out. Hope homopropaganda won't kill it as lately whatever is on Netflix there needs to be gay person. Political correctnes yuck... AS Henry for me looks really good I don't like Yenefer casting, "alabaster skin" and curvy black hair. Eva Green would suit her perfectly but this....

There better be a scene where Geralt has sex with a monster or I will sad face.

Well, yes. Apparently. There was quite some politics of time affecting Tolkien's content. But they are not something you would ban your children from reading. And that's contrast to Sapkowski's books. Taking away target audience and motives behind writing, you can safely hand over Tolkien's books to 10 y/o. From my point of view, content suitable for children is for children. Same way as movie which should be brutal by description of story line, but has rating of PG-13... You are already sure, that anything remotely disrupting as real world experience would be will not be there. I can't say that I like PG-13 war, psychological drama, ... At best, you can get good PG-13 horror as suspense is not explicit. Imagine Wind River movie to attempt to move from R to PG-13. And so, my original statement stays.
Fox2232:

Because Sapkowski wrote books that are more brutal than Game of Thrones. Back in the day, people were comparing Saga to LotR for lack of anything close. But Tolkien wrote books for children. While pretty complex, they were really for children in comparison to Sapkowski's work which is unsuitable for children and those who read them often argue that content is not suitable for even teenagers. Therefore translating Witcher to TV screen requires either critical realism or softening, bending and breaking characters.
In comparison to Sapkowski's work, Tolkien's books are for children. Analogy is: In comparison to being burned alive, death sentence by lethal injection is kind. - - - - Meaning was simple. You can put Tolkien's books on TV screen and have it as PG-13 without breaking characters or story. Attempting to make Sapkowski's work as PG-13 on TV screen will break it.

His portraying of "One Eye" in Valhalla Rising was very good. But he is too old for the role. Same way as Emilia Clarke for Cirilla. (Freya Allan is rather young and it hints that they are going for content of the books.) It should be noted that Witchers live for centuries and Geralt is rather young. Game have him wrong, especially 3rd one where they aged him so much.
