What a shock. People didnt even see it coming.

China's government placing restrictions on crypto currencies was probably a more significant act than LHR, but of course LHR was also a step in the right direction. Now if only Europe and North America started to crack down on crypto. We wouldn't even need LHR if that happened, and future GPUs could return to normal.

LHR RTX3000 still produce lower hashrate or lower efficiency than RX6000, that is all that matters.

Not only China, many EC have banned completely the mining of crypto that are energy hungry, and some African country too (because it's minning or electricity for cities). Also the G26 report about the no-return point of rss that are behind us since few month, might add something to that. Crypto is nice and usefull but TOO MUCH crypto is as stupid as playing russian roulette with automatic pistol... But OK when you see all of those moron that invested in crypto hardware to make money and have lost nearly everything last month... you can only think about Darwin natural selection...

Of course not, it's a total surprise... It's not like if before LHR was release we have not posted the idea on how to bypass LHR in this forum (and some other more techie)... lol

Guess what's going to happen when miners buy out all the RX6000 stock.

Would have been nice to upgrade my 1080ti with a new GPU at the same price with significantly better performance and increased Vram specs. Such a standard thing to offer but Nvidia decided not to, even before the mining and supply mess. If better times arrive I think it won't be until mid 2023 or so. Basically a lost cause. I wonder if this has caused any damage at all to the gaming and gaming hardware industry.

Stay with your PC and don't upgrade, there is no reason to upgrade your PC for gaming or buy a gaming PC the value has been murdered beyond any point of return.

You mean now you expect a crackdown on cryptos? Now that the "old money" players have jumped on the bandwagon? They are waiting to scam the average Joe Crypto, and then they will impose new rules, I believe.

This took longer than I expected.

I thought there wasn't an LHR version 3090 to begin with?

Time to find another hobby. As long as cryptocoins exist, gaming is dead. But maybe the US government will shut down Tether, and the entire thing collapses... but it probably won't happen anytime soon, they have other more pressing issues right now.

That's never going to happen. You may see more availability but they've seen people are willing to pay crazy prices. Remember when gas soared after 9/11. They saw we would pay twice what we had been and the lowest it ever went after that was the height of the Covid lockdown, which in my area was 1.65 a gallon. Now it's back to 3.12

I just meant in the future GPUs wouldn't need extra stuff like the LHR tech. While I think it's beneficial to hamper mining, it's still extra that shouldn't be there and that could theoretically hurt the performance in compute tasks that haven't got anything to do with the crypto. Even if it didn't, on principle such restrictions are no good. I merely accept it because my hatred of crypto is far larger than any dislike of things like LHR.
