My last 2 graphic cards were from MSI, the GTX 770 Lightning and currently the GTX 970 Gaming 4G. The Twin Frozr coolers are AMAZE BALLS! I will definitely get MSI's 1080 with the Twin Frozr 6 cooler. I just wish I could order one right now! When are these cards available for purchase....this is killing me!

The Lighning is a 3 slot cooler, while the standard twin frozr is a two slot, and yes its noiser, but as in the past gen, MSI will save their lightning design for the GTX1080Ti, but the quietest and coolest (beside going water) is prolimatech MK26, it usually keeps my MSI GTX980Ti around 10C lower than the Twin Frozr cooler, and 1k rpms less.

For sli stock cooling would be better I would imagine.

Agreed. I've went through just about every series and type of cooler and the Twin Frozr Gaming series cards were by far the best experience. The new one looks really good too, too bad we install cards upside-down so it wouldn't be visible anyway. :wanker:
The next time I buy a card it'll definitely be of the MSI Gaming series unless it's simply not available.

That red/black one would go perfect with my red/black themed build. I think I'm leaning towards the EVGA 1080 FTW though. Can't wait for a flurry of reviews.
They are nice. I have an EVGA ACX 2.0 970 in addition to my MSI 970 and the coolers operate nearly identical in noise/heat.
I think all of the air coolers on recent higher end GPUs are fairly similar, in a good way. Much better than they used to be (when some sounded like jet engines under load).

Nope, some are a galaxy apart. The Twin Frozrs are silent and tiny compared to something like Gigabyte's Windforce coolers. And to be clear, the Twin Frozr cools just as well if not better. Even at 100% the Twin Frozr was super quiet compared to the Windforce.
I went from an MSI 970 4G series card to a Powercolor R9 290X since I was annoyed at the 3.5GB scandal and the 290X was a wicked deal (don't remember the price but it was far lower than the 970). The 290X performed like a potato and was likely defective, there were no replacements available so I got a refund on that.
Long story short I've went through 3 Gigabyte 970 G1s until I got a non defective one and I wish I still had that MSI 970 4G (which also had much better memory). The G1 was the most expensive of all the 970s.
The next time I have my peanuts saved up, the only series I'm considering is MSI's xG series, or whatever their AMD equivalent is called. That is unless a reputable brand has a great deal going on.

That sucks. Perhaps I just got two of the better brands then. The twinfrozr on my 970 is indeed, fantastic, the ACX 2.0 (gave to daughter) is as well.
Those are the 2 brands I'm looking at for my 1080.

I didn't clarify my last post enough, when I said at 100% on the Twin Frozr I meant compared to the Windforce at around 60%. At 100% the Windforce is obnoxiously loud, headphones can block out most the sound so whatever. And yeah I actually have my fans on this thing go as high as 90% due to my high OC.
It's definitely not a bad card, it is a high end 970, and possibly a hand picked GPU (which would explain the price), but I just expected a lot more considering it was the top priced 970 around. $500 (/w tax) at the time while on "sale". That's not exactly nothing. In the US IIRC 970s were... $350 at the time?
So I guess what I'm saying is if you see a Gigabyte 1080 on sale go ahead and buy it, I'd expect it to be just fine, but nowhere near as quiet as the MSI Twin Frozr cards. I wouldn't because I'm salty as hell that Gigabyte used different RAM on their expensive retail G1 series than they did in review G1 models. 1GHz less RAM OC room than any of the reviews I saw, on all 3. They used reject Hynix RAM on the retail cards and higher binned Samsung RAM in all the review models I saw.

Main reason why i'm going to start avoiding gigabyte now, that and their unexpected revisions changing god knows what components.

If its anything like their motherboards, then they usually remove mosfets, vrm, caps, making it even more "cheaper
As for overall custom scenario, almost all custom 1080 look like toys, flashy lights, colours and all that shize xD

Im interested in the Sea Hawk one if they make a 1070 version of it and if the price is right. Considering them liquid cooled cards add more money to the price.

Just want to say I own a G1 gaming, it uses Samsung memory, @ least according to GPU-Z

I've looked at all cards back and forth but I'll skip MSI this time. First of all the price for the Gaming card like 70€ higher than ASUS Strix and even higher than EVGA FTW.
Second of all, the factory OC is very low compared to others which is strange.
And lastly my 980Ti is not THAT quiet. I'm hoping for something better out there.

When I contacted them I specifically asked what it is exactly they changed for the new revision because the RAM change to reject C grade Hynix RAM was present on both v1.0 and v1.1. I was told they're not allowed to say.

One interesting thing on Computex is there is an Lightning version, i thought MSI was waiting on the GTX1080Ti to release this version, but this changes the waiting game, MSI GTX Lightning 1080 show
