Mine seems to struggle massively with AA, all types, all games Disable AA and its peachy
Is that just at 1080p or are you gaming at 1440P or higher?

Just 1080p, sometimes I wonder if there's something wrong with it, people getting much better FPS in games, but then I beat other 290s in certain benchmarks I think I have a schizophrenic GPU

Ive just noticed in the CCCs Overdrive, i don't have the Target GPU Temperature slider, ive just got the High Performance Memory Clock Setting, and the Enable Manual Fan Control one.

What case does Hilbert test VGA cards with? ...or is it an open bench setup? (TPU also don't mention this specifically in the Test System description. Would be nice to know for us readers for sure!) I Finally got myself one of these lovely cards too ^^ But I am seeing some pretty high temps in certain games, despite considering my case to have pretty decent airflow and a cold room and stock settings for now. I am using an Antec P182 with a full set of Sharkoon "golf ball style dimple" fans running at about 1,100rpm (they got excellent airflow reviews back when I got them) - I have also added an extra 120mm 1,200rpm Noctua fan, where the optical drives should be, blowing in. ...Basically 2x in and 2x out. Idle temp is about 36c. folding@home (on CPU too) = 87c @ 79% fan Star Citizen hangar module (Very High : 36fps and High : 54fps) = 94c @ 100% fan (Business Hangar with Legionnaire & Freelancer. Known to be fairly tough + is tougher than when I last loaded it some time back!) SplinterCell Blacklist (no Vsync, about 68fps) = 82c @ 61% fan SplinterCell Blacklist (Vsync, about 60fps) = 79c @ 59% fan Skyrim (visual mods, no Vsync, 80 - 120fps) = 79c @ 59% fan Skyrim (visual mods, Vsync, 60fps) = 63c @ 34% fan (about 34% I think it was. Others are Certain) Maybe these are normal temps for this card (tested more games as I wrote this which I added above since testing Star Citizen Hangar Module which I know is raw and unrefined with high poly counts etc), but still feeling a little concerned for the coming summer... - I certainly won't be able to fold on in summer without it bouncing off 94c! Maybe reapplying the 290X's thermal paste. I have heard some 290 cards (not necessarily MSI ?) have it put it on poorly or too thick and re-applying can produce a Good improvement. That or it really is time to get a new case Finally. Been thinking on the Corsair Obsidian 550D for a while 🙂 ......also thinking that maybe MSI tried too hard to keep it a 2 slot cooler, been a few places saying these Gaming cards are a bit loud for their cooling performance, unlike the Gigabyte Windforce models. (Loudish is less of an issue compared to cannot cool. My hopes feel semi dashed) - might even end up adding something like that highly rated Gelid aftermarket cooler perhaps - if it will even fit this aftermarket MSI non-reference card...?

94c in Star Citizen, 100% fan, jesus! Ive never seen that high, 84s been my highest so far.

Once I got my third monitor and started gaming at 5760 x 1080 with the case now under the desk (allot worse airflow around it now) I've seen it hit at high at 87C in FC3, before I moved it and was only gaming at 1920 x 1080 the highest I ever saw was 81C and most games didn't top 76C.

Well now, I've since added a few pieces of foam inside my case to re-route some of the airflow as some of the air was more or less going in one fan and out another without going near anything hot... This was spurred on by some warmer weather (peaked at 16c today outside, though ofc the PC warms my room up a fair bit too. Might be 21c in my room, will update later once i move a temp probe to where it surely cannot be effected by warm air inside the case - reads 25c right now sitting in airflow of an intake fan) and my folding@home temps increasing from 87c with 79% fan ---> 92c with 100% fan! It is equally warm right now and while folding on both CPU and GPU results in GPU running at 84.5c with 64% fan. Much better 😎 Star Citizen is also a bit happier. High GFx setting 1920x1080 = 39 - 65fps. 90c with 100% fan Very High setting 1920x1080 = 28 - 45fps. 91c with 100% fan Better, but still not ideal. Not that many people will have a case with better airflow than what I have now. - but some gamer cases and even quiet ones like the Corsair 550D should still be better than what I am using now once the max No. of fans are installed. Most games on this card should run at respectable temperatures under 79c - but folks should not overlook the importance of good case airflow!
