quite sexy, load a game up with so much tressfx 2.0 fur and grass that mantle is needed with a gpu like this and we may have a deal, tomb raider2 uber fur, grass and *ahem nice girly hair and yes. remember, to max tomb raider2 a 290x and mantle is necessary (or £800 nvidia option).

then , what about your '790 vs titan black' thread? OnTopic, OC potential is not that great.

TressFx much like PhysX so far seems like a nice addition if you have the GPU power for it (I enable it anyway though, heh. :P ) but otherwise just disable it and the game(s) will run fine without much of a visual difference, like you said 2.0 of TressFx will probably be quite demanding when we start seeing it in games if it's used for fur, grass hair and other effects, Tomb Raider was already pretty demanding and that was with just one object using the effect although of course it's probably been optimized better by now. Wouldn't mind getting a R9 290(x) though especially these non-reference versions (Minus that black-screen issue.) but I'll hold off until Nvidia shows what they have planned with Maxwell later this year or when it was. (And then what AMD plans to do, R9 295 perhaps? That Vesuvius X2 version could be neat too although overkill for most gamers perhaps and likely priced pretty high.)

then ..'790 vs titan black' ...
was speaking objectively.

This card is sooo tempting. Consdering the price difference against the 780Ti.

I'll switch over when AMD make a rival to Shadowplay, until then there is nothing out there as good as Shadowplay and it is a major feature now for when I game.

Nothing wrong I guess with 8+6pin power but wouldn't be better with a 8+8pin? Also Hilbert would be possible please to include a custom 780Ti results in the game benches? And to keep everyone happy we could name it "Custom 780Ti". 😉 It would be a lot better for performance comparison to see a custom 780Ti results in there since there a significant difference from a stock 780Ti in performance.

I hear really good and positive things about Tri-X version too. Just for consideration if you are thinking about the 290X.

Good review Hilbert, i got mine last week, really is an awesome card, and its unbelievably quiet, the BIOS isn't Uber or Quiet modes though, its Legacy BIOS, or UEFI/Legacy BIOS (which is the default setting).

Curious, what overclock results did you get, same ?

I have been very much delighted with my non X version of this same product, so I'll give this a big thumbs up too. 🙂

Only managed 1080 on stock volts, thats with testing the Crysis bench, as any higher, on the 3rd run through, i start to get flashing squares. Not really an overclocker tbh. :P

Very nice cooler it's keeping that small nuclear furnace under control. But I'm starting to notice a Trent of there not being much overclocking headroom in the Hawaii chips.

is that a backplate I see blocking the FLIR camera ? if it is, why it didn't get removed ?

So glad i water cooled My R9 290 these aftermarket R9 290X don't seem to overclock well at all, but maybe this is just a bad card. My R9 290 at 1230MHZ on the Core and 1625Mhz on the memory out performs this. I really don't see the 290X being worth the extra money when you can just get a water block for your reference R9 290

Side Panel- Intake, Exhaust or nothing If I got 2 of these cards in CF, what would be the best scenario to keep these cards cooled. I have a front and bottom intake fans and rear and top fans as exhaust. There is a spot on the side panel for a 200mm fan but should I have it as an exhaust, intake or leave it alone. I ask because these cards push the heat mostly away from the motherboard and they are so tall, maybe a side panel exhaust right beside the cards would get the heat out the quickest?

decent card
