If I got 2 of these cards in CF, what would be the best scenario to keep these cards cooled. I have a front and bottom intake fans and rear and top fans as exhaust. There is a spot on the side panel for a 200mm fan but should I have it as an exhaust, intake or leave it alone. I ask because these cards push the heat mostly away from the motherboard and they are so tall, maybe a side panel exhaust right beside the cards would get the heat out the quickest?
It really depends on how your airflow is moving in your case. It's easy enough to test it out, so try a side panel exhaust fan, record the temperatures during a nice gaming run and then reverse that side fan and record the temperatures again. It's only a couple of minutes to switch around, so I'd go for some testing myself. 🤓

Ive only got the 1x card, and my case fans (the default ones in Phantom 820) are, 1x front intake, 1x side intake, 1x top out, and 1x rear out, all are set on the lowest speed setting, and highest temp ive seen is 77, idles around 36/37.

Same, even leaving my GPU mining overnight @ 100% load, it never went above 77c

What kinda oc you got going on that custom cooler?

I hit 84 while playing Metro 2033 for about 40 minutes or so, according to AB, although my idles now 46 with the clocks locked at 515/625. :P

I've had 1100/1500 so far, looks like 1100 is around my max even with +100mV, much higher and I start getting artifacts, I have to have +81mV for 1100 in FC3 or I get pretty little red diamonds everywhere lol

Im currently idling at 34c according to AB with 150/300 idle clocks EDIT - 32c 😀 EDIT - 31c

Yeah i idled around 35/37 when they were @ 300/150, still, 84's nowt, and even thouh AB reckons the max fan speed was 64%, it was still quiet as a mouse. 😀

Doesn't seem to have much headroom for oc with all that extra voltage.

Yea for 64% fan that's not bad at all, considering 95c is their max 🙂

Yea I was expecting more, stock is 977MHz, (Actually factory OCd) I think 947 is true stock, so 153MHz OC to hit 1100 Maybe I was too trigger happy raising the vCore, I`ll have to test it again properly with stock vCore and then only up it when it becomes unstable Im a lazy OCer, I just ramp everything up and tweak it when its not stable

Test your oc with heaven 4.0 looping. Maybe make a more aggressive fan profile too that may help.

And try with stock vram, OC only gpu

That was the strange thing, Heaven was passing fine, but FC3 showed red artifacts, This was at 1100 +19mV, so I Alt-Tab'd out and kept cranking up the vCore until the red dots were gone and ended up at +81mV Yea I`ll give it another shot with the user defined fan profile, iirc I was just using Auto at the time, I've since set it to the stock user defined profile and it does keep it quite a bit cooler

Will do, I made that mistake with my 760 and took 10x longer to work out what was wrong

Well i just played an hr of 2033 there, and never broke 77c this time, finally managed to get to the surface of the Outpost part, before i got taken out by one of those big winged jobs 🙁 😀

The factory OC is 1007, are you using the Gaming Profile instead of the OC Profile?

Wasn't using any profile, that was stock clocks for mine I didn't install the MSI gaming app thing, just drivers and Afterburner, didn't do anything to AB, my clocks were 977/1250 with +19mV already set I have since set 1100/1350 and left vCore @ 19mV and it seems stable, I think I was too quick to give it extra juice on my first test

Same here, didn't even know there was a Gaming App till later (as didn't really look at the box or owt, and never had an MSi card before), just whipped her out and banged her straight in (oohh err missus 😱), then when i read about the clocks jumping up and down, i banged Afterburner on to check, and sure enough, was up and down like a whoares draws, so did the fix, and now rock solid 😀

If you're going to Overclock it yourself it doesn't really matter, but if you want the speed that it says on the box you have to install the MSI Gaming App and select the OC Profile (they have 3 setup). That's the one that will give you the 1007 mhz that it's advertised as and also has a slightly more aggressive fan profile. Once again, not an issue if you OC it yourself. For me I'm leaving it as advertised until I meet a game that it can't handle at ~max settings. 🙂

Same tbh, cuts through everything at the stock OC.

Amazingly quiet these cards, ive just played over an hr of Metro 2033, and Afterburner reports a max fan speed of 71%, yet i still couldn't hear the bugger, awesome card! 😀

Mine seems to struggle massively with AA, all types, all games Disable AA and its peachy
