Need 32GB minimum, it's like AMD and Nvidia don't know the market anymore. All future games will use 32GB, we're all doomed until we have that much.
inb4 memory allocation, 3/4GB cards beating 6GB and any other logic you can throw because I say so.

The MSI 290 I had was perfect from hardware point of view. No coil whine either. What I didn't like was the heat and AMD's buggy power saving features which made the card run hot at desktop while using 75Hz and occasional black screen because it didn't wake up from ULPS or something. Also AMD's driver annoyances (v-sync basically doesn't work anywhere, you can't enhance in game AA i.e. select 2xMSAA in game and enhance it to 8xMSAA, transparency antialiasing is tied to current MSAA setting etc.). Obviously it ran hot, it heat up my room.

kurwa, cyka. Hokay, 8gb 290x hmmmh. I was planning on getting another 290x maybe cause that is the only upgrade I can make that makes sense to me. Or wait for something faster then 980 and 290x

A benchmark from when a 290x 8GB VRAM card got a limited release in Europe.

Matter in high resolutions with AA turned all the way up. If you really need that much AA at such an resolution is debatable though.

8 gig is useless for a single card.
I have 2 290 cards and my experience 4 gigs is plenty.
This card and any other card for that matter will only be usefull for 3 way sli or crossfire setups.
Your never go above 4 gig with 2 cards and if you did your core speed wouldn't be fast enough to maintain good frame rates.
Our gpu speeds are not fast enough to use 8 gig right now.
Maybe next year or when dx 12 is up and running with a better api.

Not sure how beneficial this card will be with 8gb. This is not the first time that MSI did a double vRAM version of an R9 200 series card they did it with the r9 280x. I agree that 8gb on a singe card is a waste and 4gb is plenty for 1440p and 1080p gaming.

This thread is just a ticking time bomb.
Wait till d4rky says something stupid in favor of 8GB and everyone goes nuts again.
