Cool, I was actually thinking of upgrading but that 4GB on the new 970/980 is simply too little considering how demanding on the memory these new games are -_- This one looks much better
I agree and there 900 line of series also have a few problems here and there, coil whine etc etc. I wish AMD were green i bought one for sure, hopefully we see the first review soon from this r290x and hopefully it beats the 970/980 in a heartbeat under ultra hd gaming. If it does, Nvidia must release a 8 gb serie of maxwells.

All gpu series have problems,AMD or nV ,your point is?Also that coil whine/heatsink/fan problems are on some AIB`s ,not all.

Need 32GB minimum, it's like AMD and Nvidia don't know the market anymore. All future games will use 32GB, we're all doomed until we have that much. inb4 memory allocation, 3/4GB cards beating 6GB and any other logic you can throw because I say so. #swimminginvram

He is too green to try Red. Dont blame him, he dont know no better. Reminds me of SLI. 😀

The MSI 290 I had was perfect from hardware point of view. No coil whine either. What I didn't like was the heat and AMD's buggy power saving features which made the card run hot at desktop while using 75Hz and occasional black screen because it didn't wake up from ULPS or something. Also AMD's driver annoyances (v-sync basically doesn't work anywhere, you can't enhance in game AA i.e. select 2xMSAA in game and enhance it to 8xMSAA, transparency antialiasing is tied to current MSAA setting etc.). Obviously it ran hot, it heat up my room.

900 series nvidia's seem to have a bit less issues than a 290/290x. I bought a G1 970 and a Windforce 290, both combined have got THAT much issues that it makes me wanna quit gaming. Sure, I'm talking about UHD which surely needs more work than FHD but still. Both have driver issues, the 290 actually can't even run 4K at 60Hz without flicker - but is 'fine' at 55Hz. While the 970 has no problems with 60Hz, it still has some texture flickers and stupid crap like that. Damn, I really do hope that both those pr*ck companies solve their driver problems and UHD support issues.

kurwa, cyka. Hokay, 8gb 290x hmmmh. I was planning on getting another 290x maybe cause that is the only upgrade I can make that makes sense to me. Or wait for something faster then 980 and 290x

vsync worked fine for me whenever I needed, you can also enhance AA in most cases, but I have to agree, AMD really need something like inspector which is just great and I think AMD themselves should develop something like it.

Didnt AMD just hire the guy who developed RadeonPro to go and work on their Gaming Evolved app? Maybe we will see RadeonPro get some form of integration into Catalyst drivers...

8 gig is useless for a single card. I have 2 290 cards and my experience 4 gigs is plenty. This card and any other card for that matter will only be usefull for 3 way sli or crossfire setups. Your never go above 4 gig with 2 cards and if you did your core speed wouldn't be fast enough to maintain good frame rates. Our gpu speeds are not fast enough to use 8 gig right now. Maybe next year or when dx 12 is up and running with a better api.

Not sure how beneficial this card will be with 8gb. This is not the first time that MSI did a double vRAM version of an R9 200 series card they did it with the r9 280x. I agree that 8gb on a singe card is a waste and 4gb is plenty for 1440p and 1080p gaming.

This thread is just a ticking time bomb. Wait till d4rky says something stupid in favor of 8GB and everyone goes nuts again.
