Oh boi... that's some serious firepower. 2.5-3x faster than R9 290 Up to* 2x faster than 980Ti/FuryX *NV/AMD lingo 😀 Ideal for 2560x1440, and perfectly viable for 4k if you're willing to drop few settings. Hmm... 25x16 ULTRA or 4K @HIGH settings. Which one gives better IQ? Proly 4K.

I doubt that. They are submitting the new 1080 with all the sensors in it though. For the 1080 Ti I expect over the next few days boards from ASUS, Zotac, Gigabyte likely next week and in roughly two weeks Palit. So that is roughly the overview of Ti boards we'll check out.

Oh man... nvidia keeps dumping s...t on AMD and there's no hope for change. Unless someone considers huge Vega delay and announced 4GB\8GB for a good sign.

I am so glad I went for Ultrawide 3440x1440 screen, for me it's the perfect balance of pixel density, work space, and way easyer to drive then 4K while still being very impressive to game in/at. This also seems the perfect res for the 1080TI - So yeah I'm a very happy camper - apart from the fact I have my setup-refresh planned for June, so a bit of patience required still 😀 Edit: Also glad to see aftermarket cooling/boards is/are actually useful this time around compared to the vanilla 1080, which didn't really matter which board/cooling/FE you had, they all clocked roughly the same 🤓

2560x1440: bigger, easier to drive, much better for still overwhelmingly popular 16/9 content, more content compatible overall, no issues with games whatsoever. ABC reasons for being better in games 3440x1440: higher PPI(better IQ, less aliasing), much better for 21/9. XYZ reasons for being better in games. For me anno 2017., 25x16 still wins. And only 4K is a proper upgrade.

nice review! only + 75 MHz on the core... seems like they already go to the max from the factory oc, most high end 1080 were reaching 2G already and had little headroom.
My MSI FE had an Ek block on from the start, i maxed the power and temp levels and the card boosted to 1800 on its first run of Time Spy hitting 35C. Now have it boosting to 2000mhz but waiting for Afterburners official voltage support before going permanently higher (benched stable at 2050mhz).

The review and some posters are suggesting this is overkill for 1080p but in many games the 1080Ti still shows large improvements over the 1080 at 1080p. High Hz monitors are probably about as common for gaming as 1440/4K displays so I think it would be a useful distinction to make. I realize CPU and maybe even memory bottlenecks are going to be more common at 1080p, especially with the 4.3GHz 2133MHz test setup but even then, the 1080Ti posts over 20% gains in Sniper Elite, Tomb Raider, Gears of War, Ashes, Watch Dogs, The Division, Resident Evil, The Witcher, and Dishonored and is much closer to hitting a 144fps average versus the 1080.

750-800€ range? Based on the launch of the 1080 this MSI Gaming X (and most top tier cards) should be priced 100€ more than the FE. That's 920€ :leave:

Another use at 1080p is 4K DSR for anti aliasing, looks great, pushes the card hard. And a 1080ti is extremely useful for VR. Its not all about single screen gaming.
